Fair View Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Fair View Cottage in Ella. The cottage is beautiful, very clean, and offers a stunning view that makes waking up in the morning truly special. The cottage is close to town, yet peaceful and quiet. What made our stay exceptional was Riyash. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. He shared great local tips and showed us some real hidden gems that made our visit to Ella feel much more authentic. Breakfast was another highlight. We had delicious fresh egg hoppers and a wonderful Sri Lankan breakfast that we enjoyed on the terrace with the amazing view. A small note: the cottage is located on a hillside with many uneven steps, so it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Overall, we highly recommend staying here.

Amazing views, lovely & cool temperature at night. Helpful staff especially Riyash. Breakfast was lovely sitting on the terrace. Slightly up a hill away from Ella’s Main Street so lovely & quiet except for the dogs & birds!

Very quiet and tucked away from the insanity of Ella strip. Loved bird watching in the morning. The bed was super comfortable. Rias, the host, was wonderful. So kind and helpful, nothing was a trouble, and he even got up to help us with our bags at 4am and made us sandwiches for our journey. So lovely.

The bathroom had a slightly mouldy smell with smelly drains when using the shower, but was otherwise totally fine and not offensive enough to cause us to complain. We were concerned about the lack of mosquito net as there are slight gaps in the door seams where they could get in, but we used the mosquito coil provided and didn’t get any bites or hear any mosquitos! It was no problem for us, but accessibility could be challenging for those with restricted mobility as the property is up some very very steep steps.

L’emplacement, à 2 minutes de la rue principale. La chambre, nichée dans les arbres, très spacieuse, bien décorée, literie confortable, salle de bains ok. La gentillesse du personnel.

Rien en particulier. Attention pour les personnes à mobilité réduite, il y a de hautes marches à monter (ce qui ne nous a pas dérangé, c’était notre petite séance de sport journalière). Le tarif de la chambre est un peu élevé, mais cela vaut tout de même l’expérience.

The room has amazing view, very quiet and away from the busy main road of Ella. We woke up every day and admired a grizzled giant squirrel taking twigs from a tree. Breakfast is served on the veranda in front of the room. We opted for the Sri Lankan breakfast, and it was great on both days.

The road access is very narrow, our driver struggled a bit, also because there is no illumination. The walk up to the room is a bit steep. They helped us with heavy luggage, but it might be challenging for people with reduced mobility.

schönes Zimmer mit toller Aussicht, vor Ort hat man sich bestens um uns gekümmert! das Frühstück war super, Riyash hat uns Tipps für Lokale, Tee-Shops und Wanderungen gegeben, auch den Transfer zur Westküste hat er für uns organisiert. Wirklich hervorragend!

Great view, friendly staff, nice breakfast and services.

Beware of big uneven steps if you have any mobility issues…but it’s the steps that give you the view!
