Just one little thing - some double beds were bit too small

It’s a beautiful, big farm house close to the ocean. The rooms were spacious, and the kitchen well equipped.

All was fine

Beautiful peaceful magical place for our group of 13 friends. We cooked all our meals there for 7 days. Very centrally located.

This is one of the best holiday rental homes we've ever experienced! The house itself is spacious and tastefully furnished (traditional Portugues upper-class), but also modern in facilities. The kitchen is exquisitely equipped and everywhere there has been attention to detail. The beds are very comfortable. Cleanliness: excellent. The view from the terrace over the Atlantic Ocean is out of this world, the sunsets on the horizon near Ponta Delgada too. The building (a beautifully converted hay barn: that's the Palha bit) is well constructed and thus insulated. Some holiday homes provide a welcome pack (a bottle of wine, a light snack, for example), but the welcome assortment at this location was exceptional: pretty well everything you'd need for 2 days! The owner gave us a really warm welcome and we felt immediately at home. For the rest, we weren't disturbed, not even by the neighbours (there are three houses on site, though at least 50 metres apart). Situated near (2 to 3 minutes) the EN-1, Casa da Palha also forms an excellent base for exploring the island. It is 18 to 20 minutes' drive from the airport, but we weren't disturbed by planes, which approached/departed over the ocean, some kilometres away.

It was made clear to us in advance that the Casas do Termo are next to a working farm, and some animal noise at night was probably inevitable (a cockerel starting up at 5 a.m., too). There are a few flies around (not all that many) and we were requested to keep doors closed: there are anti-insect meshes on the windows.

Beautiful setting with the farm nearby. The farmers were very friendly and welcoming.

A lot flies in the house which towards the end became annoying.
