Madre Tierra Eco Habitat

Madre Tierra was a great experience. We loved the feel of the little eco village, and loved being "Away from it all" in the jungle. At night it was definitely colder then being closer to the ocean but this did not take away from the experience. We did our grocery shopping in Puerto Morelos (Your closest option for full stoked grocery store) then spent our first 4 days of th4 trip at madre Tierra and exploring the local cenotes which are beautiful. Keep in mind that there is no refrigerator and you will be needing ice to store your food in the Supplied community cooler. This is helpful to know so you don't buy to much food all at once. The cooking area is nice and works great. staff is helpful and friendly, and overall this is definitely a place I would return to. We finished our trip out in Puerto where we did a couple scuba dives with Sun and Sea adventure among other things. The feel of the area is perfect for a relaxing getaway with as much adventure as you seek.

More food storage options, We pretty much had the place to ourselves so we did not run into issues but if they were busy, I could see the cooler getting full really quick.

The noice from the people in the neighborhood proberty could be distracting for other guests but we didn’t care .

The meals were great. We loved the jungle location. It was a great place to explore the local attractions from. We enjoyed a couple of evenings by the campfire. Eduardo was a great host.

Hotel très difficile à trouver surtout de nuit. Nous avons dormi dans des draps très humide et avec une couverte très fine en sachant que les cabanes sont ouvertes sur l'extérieur. Nous avons du tuer un gros scorpion. Une de mes pires nuits.

Loved the locatin for serenity, nature, and birding. Loved the treehouse-like cabin. Loved the openness and cool breeze all night. I saw 12 new birds for my life list in the morning :)

I reserved a room that specifically said "private bathroom" and I don't think there is one on this site. This is definitely glamping. I must have missed that in the write-up. There's one shared bathroom and shower. The bed and pillows were adequate, but not very comfortable. Bring your own towels. I had none, so couldn't use the shower. The cabins are close together so, had I not been the only one there, I doubt I would have enjoyed the serenity and birding so much.

The spot is idyllic and exactly as promised -- spare facilities but all in nature. The spot had places to sit outside, as well as a cordoned-off "living room" area with bug nets for hanging out in during the night when bugs are out. The staff was lovely and extremely helpful.

As the description promises, the facilities are somewhat barebones. Bedding is reasonable but not super comfortable, and lighting at night inside the cabins is spotty -- some had it and some required us to use our phone flashlight. I don't see this as a huge drawback -- this is basically what you sign up for. However, it is something to be aware of.

The staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. Calm and quiet location.

It was difficult to find when arriving at dark. We had booked a cabin with private bathroom, but were given one with shared toilets outside. The cabin was so full of mold that it was impossible to breathe inside. There were even visible spots of mold in the sheet covers. When we asked to change into a room corresponding to our reservation, they started to prepare it stating we would have to wait for one hour staying outside being eaten by mosquitoes in the middle of the night. We decided to content to whichever other room was available and were left without private bathroom still. There is no pressure in the showers and water is cold. Whole bathroom building smells of mold.
