The Grange

The house and gardens are beautiful and the room was excellent.

When we arrived admittedly early, at 4.30 when the appointed hour was 5, someone saw us and fled. There was no-one else about so we drove off and returned about 5.20 when we were warmly welcomed but our first impressions were very disconcerting.

A lovely historic house, kept in pristine condition. The hosts made us feel like family guests and even offered to lend us tennisrackets for the court on the property. We loved wandering round the garden, taking a turn on the swing.

I was a little skeptical at first about staying in someone's house however, the house being the age and style it was, was very pleasant. The garden was amazing, and even for the short time we were there we were able to take a few strolls with the owners dogs and enjoy it. The hosts, James and Tamsin were great. They couldn't have been nicer, and more accommodating. There was a very homely feeling to the cottage, making us feel at home. Breakfast was lovely, with lots of options and freshly prepared, the dining area was also lovely. Our check in times due to our travelling distance was a little unpredictable, however the hosts again were very accommodating to this making the whole process rather stress free. If you are planning to attend a wedding at North Cadbury court, this location is easily within walking distance. I originally thought the price was high, however friends stayed in a hotel close by, paid the same price and only had access to a bedroom with an en suite. I felt our experience with the food and location was far better value for money.

This was a room in the owners house with no soundproofing or separation from the family living there. The room is over the family's kitchen and dining room. The owners were having a dinner party during our stay and expected us to be out. It felt like we were an inconvenience. We had to request for hot water to be turned on for a bath. The coffee and tea station in the room is very poor. This was not what I expected clarification in the ad for this room being in the living quarters of a family home would have been very helpful. This is a lovely house full of charm suitable for anyone who does not plan on spending much time there.

Beautiful restored manor on the edge of the village, very kind and friendly owners, lovely room with a view over the gardens, fantastic en suite with roll top bath and walk in shower, and a splendid cooked breakfast.
