Rooms were clean

My family and friends booked four rooms as we were attending the Scare City event. We were travelling from Lincoln, and since I was working during the day, I let them know we wouldn’t be arriving until late (our event booking wasn’t until 9 p.m.). We arrived at around 7 p.m. and called the number provided. The owner came to “greet” us, but she wasn’t very welcoming and was actually quite rude. When the rest of our group arrived, she was also very rude to them. We returned from the event at around 11:45 p.m. and went back to our rooms. We decided to order some food and wait together in one of the rooms to eat. At about 12:30 a.m., we opened the door to find the woman and (presumably) her husband standing outside. They hadn’t even knocked, so we believe they were standing there listening in. They told us we were being too noisy and should all go back to our rooms. We apologised and explained that we were just waiting for our food to arrive, to which they replied, “Well, that will be another disturbance.” Even after apologising multiple times, they threatened to call the police! After about five to ten minutes, they left, and our food arrived shortly after. We all went back to our own rooms and ate separately—which we really shouldn’t have had to do. In the morning, one of our group’s showers wasn’t working, so he called the owner to come and fix it. When they arrived, another guest from a different room (not part of our group) opened their door, and the owner thought it was appropriate to say, “So, were you kept up by this group too?” This was extremely unprofessional! I want to point out that the rooms were very clean; however, all of our beds were quite uncomfortable, and one of the rooms didn’t have hot water. I also want to add that the woman I spoke to on the phone prior to our stay was lovely and very professional. I believe she may have been the daughter, as she mentioned it would most likely be her mother checking us in.

Really peaceful place - loved the breakfast choices in room and out in reception. Really kind hosts. Would definitely recommend to others and would return!

Beautiful setting. Lovely breakfast. Catered well for dietary requirements. A warm and friendly welcome. Comfortable and very peaceful.
