"Great place to explore from"

10.0

Location and on site parking make this place really stand out.

Windows were old wooden frames and I didn't want to damage them by opening. However, this is the type of thing that adds some character so i wouldn't want to mark it down. Better than upvc everywhere.

"Room good, could have been great. Whitby still one of the best coastal towns."

6.0

The property is well situated on the edge of the center of Whitby within easy walking distance of the harbour. Plenty to do around the area. With endless shops, cafe's and restaurants and for those of more liquid persuasion, pubs. There is always something going on with entertainment with everyone in mind. Folk weekends, Biker weekends, Goth weekends, 40,s weekends. Fantastic harbour with great views up on the abbey cliffs. Great for a spot of crab netting with the kids. We went out for breakfast to Whistlestop cafe near the train station for the biggest delicious breakfast and really great value. Also with cracking scones. The room we had was large with a good ensuite, but certain things just let it down. There were cobwebs around the ceiling and windows. The shower was great hot and refreshing but let down by slightly grubby shower mat and for some reason when the shower was on the bathroom light flickered on and off. Tea making facilities were good but let down when not replenished, but that was sorted by seeing the owner who gave us more. Price for a two night stay was good, situated well, friendly host but just could be better by a little housekeeping. Parking not for the faint hearted on a steep incline but parking on the road is possible. All said a pleasant stay.

As said just a few things could have made the room great. Too many dogs around Whitby even though i have owned them myself people seem to impose them on others and as for bringing them into cafe,s NO!!. I dont want to smell a damp dog while im eating. I am not a grouch and can see them having a good time on a beach or in the sea, but NOT in my cafe please. Lots of people with no manners anymore. Give people space for pity's sake.
