Excellent room, great breakfast to start the day, really friendly hosts. Beautiful location.

This a very comfortable home on a working farm, the hosts welcome you into their home, and nothing is too much to make you at home.

The welcome was warm and friendly - the host is a tenant farmer and the farm has been in the family for well over a century. Breakfast was excellent, and very promptly prepared - an abundance of quality traditional breakfast options personally prepared to order by the host. The room has a superb view over the countryside, with farm animals nearby, and distant moors to the south (see attached pic). It's not far into Barnard Castle where there is a range of pubs and restaurants, as well as the mediaeval Castle (pic), ruined Egglestone Abbey (pic), and the excellent Bowes Museum (art collection). Not far away there is another castle (pic) at Bowes, on the site of a Roman fort.

Not much to find wrong with this B&B, except that changing times and circumstances in farming are never certain: I hope the host is able to continue for some years to come.

Very welcoming hosts, beautiful farm, perfect getaway to explore or simply a stop on the way. Great recommendations by Karen and a very tasty and plentiful cooked breakfast with lots to choose from. Highly recommend!

It is a lovely place to stopover on the way north. The breakfast is great the welcome scones are lovely and Karen is very friendly and helpful. Barnard Castle is a nice place to look round and yhe Bowes Museum is wonderful.
