Lily Hill Farm

Large room with characterful, solidly constructed farmhouse furniture. Plenty of storage space and lots of room for luggage. The high quality, bespoke curtains made it extra dark and cosy, conducive for a good sleep. Supportive mattress with freshly laundered, fragrance free and comfortable bedding. Large ensuite that was extremely clean. Well stocked with extras such as cotton wool and tissues. Gorgeous views from the bedroom window of the well kept garden, with song birds darting about. Greeted with homemade baked goods, fresh milk, bottled mineral water and Roses chocolates. Owner had even tried to buy in beef sausages for us. The smoked salmon and egg breakfast was cooked to perfection, the portions were hearty. Extensive choice of fresh and dried fruit + yoghurt and cereal were also provided. Roomy breakfast room; we enjoyed watching the birds in the garden. And there was even an adorable Bewick fox on the mantle piece! A restful, peaceful place to stay, with a kind hearted host.

Very nice stay, host Karen was very friendly and caring. Breakfast was fantastic, huge and very good choice for any taste.

The beautiful countryside and peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was delicious and made by the lovely owner Karen. Lots of little touches like cookies and scones in our room made our stay special.

This is a working farm in a rural location which was exactly what we were looking for. The welcome from Karen was friendly and open with scones/jam and tea in the room on arrival. We had a lovely stay, enjoyed a very well cooked breakfast, and would be happy to return again. Also of note are the gardens, and views to the rear of the property which were excellent. We were visiting Barnhard Castle, followed a day later by High Force falls which made this quiet location ideal for both. If you like town centres, and busy settings maybe not for you. We really enjoyed our stay which was good value for money.

All good and only ten minutes from the Bowes Museum. Some folks may not like the narrow lanes up to the village/farm though it was very quiet and well surfaced.

Surprise trip for the parents. They had the best time and the owners were excellent and friendly. Great views, perfect location for their trip

One of the best b+b's we've stayed in. It was spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfortable. The location was easy to find and the views were stunning. We were made very welcome with delicious home made scones and jam and biscuits. Great choice at breakfast with lovely fresh fruit salad. We will be back when we're in this lovely part of the country again!

The location was idyllic. This was a working farm house. The room was excellent with magnificent view of the rolling country side. The hosts were so helpful and the breakfast was a real farm house treat.
