"Nice stay, lovely staff"

10.0

We stayed two nights here so we could complete a nearby hike. The hostel itself is very good. You will find everything you need. The room we stayed in was not large, but it was comfortable and clean. There are many places to relax on the property. We did not take advantage of the steam room, but others we met did and highly enjoyed it. Breakfast and dinners were very good and filling. For a small fee you can get a bag lunch to take with you for the day (also very filling and well worth the cost). Staff was lovely and let us try our not so great Spanish when communicating. We were able to have some laundry done here as well for a small fee, which was nice. From the hostel, the manager gave us a ride back to the start of Quilotoa for the crater hike. This cost extra -20 bucks, but this was typical for a private ride in the area. You can catch a bus for much cheaper, but then you are limited to the bus schedule (i think maybe 6am and then 9am). You can also hike starting from the property- but if you are going to the crater lake you are hiking up for a lot of it. Please also note if you get a private ride or take the bus, the ride itself is interesting. As I understood it, about a year ago the main road collapsed and now there is a go around or a dirt road full of ruts- so it takes a bit to get through it. From the Quilotoa side you can hike a good half of the crater and then veer off (left) to hike back to the hostel- the scenery is beautiful. I think our hike was about 9 miles total. We did enjoy our stay at the hostel and I would recommend it to those traveling in the area.

"First class"

Lovely clean facilities and a large room. Victor was an attentive host and nothing was too much trouble. He even took the time to talk us through the route for our onward walk. Food was first class and a delicious packed lunch was provided at a reasonable price
