Green Hill

I booked a 286 sq.ft Mountain View room and more expensive 195 sq.ft Superior Double in Nov25 for 3 adults. Alarm bells rang when the hotel whatsapp'd me with lower rates. Sithara - "Executive Manager of the hotel" - offered a “special rate” for 2 Deluxe Superior rooms if I cancelled and booked direct, saying all other rooms were fully booked. With inconsistencies on room descriptions and lack of clarity over booking conditions/inclusions, I smelled a rat and left the bookings as they were. My gut feel and instincts were right. On arrival in Feb26, Akila on reception tried the bait and switch tactic – claiming the Mountain View Room had a problem in the bathroom and the hotel was full but he could offer us two adjacent ‘Deluxe Superior rooms’ (101 & 102) if we paid more! We viewed these top-of-the-range-advertised rooms noting the rooms were a bit tired, with shoddy stools on a balcony that needed maintenance. I accepted the rooms but given the debacle to date refused to pay extra. That night, hotel dead. Next day, only 2 tables including ours set for breakfast. I challenged Akila. He admitted he had lied about the faulty room and hotel being full. He said Sithara actually works on reception at a sister property! He said he did not even know what the included daily walking safari was. Nor did he apologise for warning us of long-term ongoing building work at the hotel and property next door. On escalating I was told the Manager was at the T20 cricket in Colombo. The Manager never made contact during or after our stay. The included breakfast was chaotic. No menu and no food choices offered, just items seemingly randomly brought to guests' tables including egg hoppers with uncooked white. Yuk. The hotel was just as empty on our second night. It was so disappointing to experience the deceit we did – so different to our experiences of Sri Lankan people over 35 days.

Fantastisk beliggenhed med bedste uspolerede udsigt til Little Adams Peak og Ella Rock. God morgenmad. Fineste udsigt fra fællesarealer.

Værelset var helt lukket uden udsigt overhovedet. Meget slidt værelse og badeværelse. Virkede lidt nusset. Selvom der var plakater med forskellig mad til aften og et åbent køkken, kunne vi ikke få lov at bestille.

When they say this hotel has the best views in Ella, they're not wrong. It was stunning, both from the restaurant and our room balcony. Rooms are spacious and clean, a little outdated, Staff were friendly and they have the best guide Sunny. He took us everywhere in the hotel tuk tuk and even to places we didn't have on our list. He also organised some train tickets to our next destination. Fantastic experience at this hotel in a very beautiful part of Sri Lanka.

The hotel overcharged for meals we have not had. When questioned they said it will be refunded and credited to my account. Despite so many reminders the money wasnt returned.

Perfekte Lage, um die Natur zu genießen und trotzdem schnell im Dorf zu sein. Für uns war es die schönste Aussicht in ganz Ella. Das Frühstück war eins der Besten und das Personal und der Service war top. Zimmer sehr hübsch und sehr sauber. Der Blick und die Geräusche vom Balkon waren etwas ganz besonderes!

Awesome views, quiet hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to 9 arches, Little Adam’s peak and Ella town.

Geweldig uitzicht!! Rustige plek, op loopafstand van het centrum, de Nine-arch bridge en Little Adams peak. De kamers zijn super luxe en het ontbijt is top, alles met een waanzinnig uitzicht dat niet te evenaren is!

Vervoer regelen naar onze volgende bestemming ging enigszins moeizaam en mysterieus.

Der Ausblick ist einfach atemberaubend, ich hatte das Glück auch noch tolles Wetter zu haben. Das Personal ist super freundlich, Frühstück gigantisch. Nach einem kurzen Spaziergang ist man mitten in Ella. Ich hatte das das Zimmer King view mit Aussicht auf den Little Adams Peak und es sind nur die Vögel zu hören. Man hört nachts die chipmunks übers Dach laufen 😁 Man ist eben mitten drin in einer gigantischen Natur
