Benslow Music Historic Stay in Hitchin

Sadly the whole experience on arrival was awful, causing me great anxiety having been told I could only stay one night, not two - as booked! However after an hour of unnecessary stress and anxiety, a conversation with the manager I was eventually allowed two nights but NO BREAKFAST on the Friday morning; which was included in the room price! This whole unpleasant episode ruined my Uk visit, and it was bad enough as I was there for a funeral. I expect some form of compensation

The attitude and general lack of client service by the receptionist, which is the first impression you get was not a good advert for the hotel or B.com

The location.

The room and en-suite were a bit tired looking. The bed was less than comfortable and the linen looked worn and old (with a stale smell).The entrance hall was cluttered and not very welcoming. Tea and coffee were not replenished for second morning. We were interrupted by housekeeping a good half an hour before we were due to vacate the room.

Great location. Clean, comfortable.

Could benefit from a bit of renovation.

It is a nice place and we had a lovely stay. We only stated for a night and for that it worked well.

The water pressure was really weak and the breakfast was cold

Im Benslow Music ist das Personal sehr freundlich! Besonders gut hat mir die Atmosphäre gefallen! Ich habe es sehr genossen ein Klavier Konzert zu folgen. Es muss nicht immer eine tolle Ausstattung sein, die ist schlicht, aber sauber. Das Gebäude ist sehr imposant und der Garten mit Wald ist toll! Ich komme gern wieder! Kerstin

Location. Being able to leave my car on site until 8pm on day of departure.

The room was in The Lodge which was very tired and run down. The room itself (No 6) was very basic as expected but looked so incredibly dated and was not what I expected to get when paying £74. The water pipes were extremely noisey. The shower didn't work: just dribbled warm water out of about 6 holes in the shower head. I mentioned the above issues when leaving and said I'd like a refund. The staff member was understanding, didn't sound surprised and said they'd pass on my request when the office staff were in. I've heard nothing from them today.
