The Railway Inn

The room was very small, the bed took up approx. half of the available space. There was no chair and to view the TV you had to lie on the bed. The en-suite modern fitted out bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom and had a great deal of wasted space. Bearing in mind that this is a one person bedroom with privacy not a problem the dividing wall could be removed to enhance the available space in the bedroom. The shower cubicle was fine but there were no instructions on how to operate the shower and it was difficult to regulate the temperature of the adequate flow. The arrangement of the shower head fitting is incorrect and it required the head to be hand held to operate in a reasonable manner. This caused water to flow on to the floor beyond the edge of the shower tray. There is no shelf upon which to place the large shower gel container during use. Two hands were required to obtain gel whilst one hand was already holding the shower head. Safety is a major concern and stepping out of the soap slippery shower tray requires a strategically placed hand rail for safe exit. None was available. Bathroom was pleasantly warm with plenty of clean towels

Peaceful, friendly and helpful staff. I didn’t eat here so can’t comment but breakfast could have been ordered along with eating other meals if required.

The bed was too soft for my preference, and with the lovely plump pillows, made my body position uncomfortable lying down ie body down (due to super soft mattress) and neck up.

Friendly warm service great food

We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Breakfast was really lovely

Breakfast really good, poached eggs were grand. Great price. Room 3 good size & great view of dawn. Dining room recently refurbished. Dog friendly bar & room. Close to dog walk on old railway line. We will stay again.

Curtains too long in room 3 at the side of the bed, trip hazard. Small spider & webs round bathroom window, which had no covering. TV reception in the room. No handle on inside of bedroom door. Only tea no coffee in room.
