A beautiful and art-filled studio where it was a joy to stay.

Rather a steep hike to the top of the stairs (though worth the climb).

We could not connect to WiFi as password never accepted. Sent voicemail but never replied.

The interior design was fabulous with loads of personal touches. The bed and bedding were fantastic and felt luxurious. We loved the bath too! Perfect place to get ready for our wedding

The location is fantastic! Right in the middle of Lewes. The house is beautiful and is tastefully furnished with everything you need for a short stay.

The basement apartment does not have it's own lockable front door. When you enter the property via the main door and walk downstairs, the living room and kitchen are accessible to anyone who is in the building. This means that anyone who knows the code for the front door (i.e. everyone who is staying in the other rooms/apartments in the house) can simply walk down stairs and be in your space. It also means that you can hear everyone coming and going as there is no door to block noise. The sound of people walking/running up and down the stairs often felt like it was directly outside my bedroom door which made me quite anxious. As a solo female traveller, I found my stay uncomfortable as I wasn't able to fully relax in the space. It is worth noting, however, that the bedroom (with ensuite bathroom) is lockable so I locked my belongings in when I went out, and locked the door when I was in. I messaged Vicky to inform her of my concerns and to recommend that this is made very clear when booking (or, ideally, put a door in). I see that others have given the same feedback on their stays so hopefully this makes a difference to folk in the future. As I said, it's a stunning house in the perfect area, but had I have known the that there was no door to the apartment, I would have booked somewhere that I could have used more as an apartment and less as a room with a bathroom on it.

Nicely decorated with great amenities. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Great location on Lewes High Street, yet surprisingly quiet.

I hadn’t appreciated that the basement apartment doesn’t have a door to separate it from the main staircase. Having looked at reviews since, I see it is mentioned but it wasn’t clear when I booked. I felt a little exposed as a result, particularly as a solo traveller.

Lovely location - much cheaper than the local premier inn and way nicer. Great spot and handy for the local park run. We were here for a wedding and all worked smoothly! Hosts are great.

Located right in the centre of town. Lovely spacious, clean apartment - comfortable bed. Relaxing environment - nice just to spend time in the room (with its wonderful bookshelf).

No problem for me, but there were a lot of stairs to climb.

Spacious, clean, it had everything we wanted with nice touches such as milk left in the fridge. The location is amazing on the High Street (but quiet, our bedroom was at the back of the house), it’s so convenient for restaurants with parking included just a short walk away. Lewes itself is a lovely place, just walking along the High Street looking at the historic buildings is an experience in itself. Vicky was an excellent host answering our questions and providing advice we wanted on restaurants.
