Villa Helena

Simply the most beautiful hotel in Pondicherry. Could not find anywhere else that was as laid back, elegant and stylish. And the best pasta arrabiata ever !

This is a charming place to stay and explore Pondicherry. It has all the comforts and cleanliness you would want but without the charmlessness of a bigger hotel. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly - I felt as though I was staying in the large and well-functioning home of a relative. The breakfast, food and cocktails were lovely and well-priced. I spent a lot of time just relaxing in the villa and I got a lot of writing done. However, because the villa is so well located it was very easy to get to other restaurants and shopping - a restful oasis in the middle of it all.

Closeness to beach

Room quality, floor was blackish and smelled like damp. Toilet floor was again blakish and looked very bad .

Une très belle maison avec de beaux meubles dans l'esprit colonial de Pondichéry. Un jardin bien agréable avec restaurant et une jolie boutique. Le quartier est très très sympa.

Un peu cher, mais bon...

Great location, nice historical home adapted into a guest house. Helpful staff, good value for money compared to other properties in Pondy. Delicious breakfast

A few rooms are on the ground floor, in the historical portion of the building while other rooms are in the more renovated space at the back. While the historical rooms are probably charming to stay in, the floor of these rooms remains the old one, and feels permanently dusty (although cleaning is done well, that simply seems to be the nature of the flooring there). Laundry service was unfortunately not possible at the time of our stay and the machines were out of order.

Beautiful old hotel with a lot of character. Our room was lovely. It was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast in the courtyard. Very relaxing place to stay with lovely staff.
