Villa Merdu Ubud

This resort was amazing. The Owner Evan went above and beyond to make sure we were happy..The accommodation is a hidden gem within Ubud. Every detail of the property was simply mind blowing

The stay was ok - the staff at Villa Merdu are very sweet and caring. I injured my shoulder trekking and they came in ready to help massage with a hot bottle as well. The pool in the unit downstairs is private but barely gets sun, so recommend you book the upper unit if you want to chill in the pool and take in the views and the sun during the day.

The experience however is a bit confused - while the listing states it is not a hotel, the policies are very hotel like, with a premium for cab rides or any services you take without the hotel-like uptime for water and electricity. During the stay the electricity went off for a few hours, and that led to no water in the taps either - in the middle of my shower. There wasn't anyone we could reach out to during that period to help as the staff isn't onsite either.

It was very homely, the views were exceptional the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The owner was good on communication. If you want to relax this place is the place you want to be. It’s about a 10 minute car/bike journey from Ubud. Nice and quiet and relaxing. They also provide Netflix which I thought was a nice touch. Really nice stay here at Villa Merdu would highly recommend! We came here for our honeymoon and we were sad to leave.

Not a lot to be negative about to be honest. It’s a hidden gem in the jungle and as I said we are sad to leave.
