"A pleasant surprise to find such a wonderful place. The area did not have well known hotels"

The owner host was fantastic, friendly and has a wonderful place. Each of the four rooms in the home had their own modern bathroom. Three rooms had large beds, and one had a single bed. We had a room on the first floor which was the largest of the four rooms.

The location was easy to find and parking was simple and close. The only downside was the house was located on a corner with no yard. There was no exceptional view from the room. Just street and other homes

"Happy Days"

Warm welcome from Kate - 3 night stay - room at the back overlooking the garden - comfy large bed - smallish TV - adequate shower - on-street car parking - no problem getting spaces - short walk to the centre and restaurants - Nikko's and Market Inn Hotel - our faves - great breakfasts - lots of choice - local producers - eggs poached to perfection - all in all a very enjoyable stay and we would have no hesitation re-booking as it ticked all our boxes

"Lovely, comfortable guesthouse - highly recommended"

Beautifully decorated room, bathroom spacious. All spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely and our host Kate is very friendly. Location was perfect for us to meet our friends who live in this very scenic area of Scotland.

"Unwelcoming"

I said I would arrive between 7 and 8pm. I arrived at 7.05. The host told me off for not arriving on time - even though i was - and then moaned about other guests being late. Then at breakfast I felt I was very limited and not allowed by the host to choose what I wanted .

"Superb"

We arrived early at Douglas House but that was not a problem, our host Kate was very welcoming and friendly and did not mind us being early. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was very good. The location was ideal for visiting relatives in the town. The only downside was the lack of private parking. Would definitely recommend Douglas House to friends and family and would love to come and stay again.

Would have been five stars if there had been safe secure parking.
