this is one of the most charming bed & breakfast places imaginable with the sweetest, friendliest and most hospitable host imaginable (Jim). the house is filled with wonderful paintings and countless perfect objects everywhere and the garden-- the magical garden-- is whimsical and charming -- filled with little statues -- of Buddhas, and lions and Cupids to only mention a few. Jim was solicitous and attentive and friendly and engaged and made a yummy breakfast. The house itself is located in the woods, by a brook, right outside of Beacon and just a few miles from Cold Spring. We loved being there and we will be back

"Beacon Hermitage is a charming, welcome respite: truly a hidden gem in Hudson Valley."

10.0

Staying at this Bed and Breakfast was like staying with old friends. Before we even stepped foot on the grounds, my partner and I felt instantly at home when we received a personalized, welcome text on our drive up asking for our dietary input about breakfast the next morning. Jim and Joe were always so thoughtful, kind, and truly gave 110% to making our stay in the Hudson Valley the best we could imagine and then some. From the sparkling clean room and facilities; to the warm, artistic decor; to the peaceful, curated garden surrounding the property. Inviting trails, a flowing stream, and cozy benches invite the traveler to take in the breathtaking natural beauty of the surrounding Hudson Valley, all without leaving the backyard of this cozy B&B. Jim and Joe were also a wealth of knowledge about where to hike, places to eat, and other things to do in Beacon and the surrounding area. Not to mention, my partner and I agreed that we could eat the breakfast every day! Delicious homemade Frittata and the most scrumptious little fruit and chocolate-filled pastries. Jim and Joe even prepared a fire for us in their fire pit on our last evening here. We highly recommend this B&B and would definitely stay here again. -Katy and James

Nothing. Everything exceeded our expectations.

"I was looking for a warm, comfortable, and tranquil stay away from the City, and this was it! Loved"

10.0

This was a warm, comfortable house in which lots of care was put into decorating it. The beds were comfortable, the rooms quiet, and the garden was wonderful. The breakfast was specially made for us and absolutely delicious. So much care was put into welcoming us and making us feel at home that I would make it a point to stay there again if I return to the region. Jim was an exceptional host!

Our stay was wonderful, so nothing negative comes to mind.

"Unpleasant experience, do not recommend"

2.0

The breakfast was ok.

Imagine waking up at 7am to the sound of someone defecating, and then another. Sadly, this was our experience at Beacon Hermitage. Our room was right next to the shared bathroom (which was shared by 6 people), and both mornings we could hear people defecating. It was gross. There is zero soundproofing and the 3 rooms are right next to each other (and the bathroom), so there is zero sense of intimacy. You can hear everything, including the couples talking in the next room. The room itself was tiny with no space to put anything. The bed seemed almost smaller than a full bed, and it was super uncomfortable for an adult couple. Only one person can sleep comfortably. The location is also a 1.5 hr walk from the city, so be prepared to take multiple cabs if you don't have a car. Overall, we had a really poor experience, feel almost cheated for what we paid and couldn't wait to leave.

"Nice and cosy house, welcoming !"

8.0

really nicely decorated bedroom and cosy living room. the bathroom is shared but was clean. nice welcome and homemade breakfast.

There was only one toilet available (in the bathroom) for 3 bedrooms. That could be improved. The proximity with the road (with some traffic during the day) was a bit disapointting.
