Mojo Lodge Hakuba

All I. All it is worth the money, at least because of the location. It is just five minutes to Hakuba village and they have a lot of places to go to. They offer a Gondola shuttle wich comes in very handy!The concept of this lodge type accommodation was new to us. We had a double room with a private bathroom. It was much smaller than we estimated it to be, but comfortable mattress and very nice sheets and blanket. The bathroom was as small as a camper van, but we experienced this at other hotels in Japan too. Sometimes it was cold in the bathroom, because there was no heater. We want to point out, that we are really thankful that the stuff was so friendly and always willing to help! We hope Noah gets better soon. He’s a very good chef! Thanks to the manger who was taking us to the gondola in the morning and in the evening.

We expected it to be a little prettier on the outside, because the photos online were taken a few years ago. There was skuffolding laying around and stuff like that, could have been cleaned up easily before the season starts. Maybe the owner could invest some money to get rid of the ripped couches and make this lodge as pretty as it probably was 5-6 years ago when the Photos were taken…. Our double room was really really small (8-10m2), it was hard to lay out our luaggage and open it to unpack. There is a very small amount of space for your clothing.

The staff were amazing! It was before peak season when we went and they were great with helping us find places to eat and driving us around. They were simply amazing and friendly people and we enjoyed getting to know them during our stay. The lodge had a cozy vibe and was comfortable and homely.

Staff were friendly, it’s nice that they can take you to the bus station. They had a baby chair in the dining area which was helpful for us. Staff spoke very good english.

Breakfast was not very good. The bedding must’ve been 50 thread count - it was so scratchy and hot. Not to mention, there was no top sheet so you either sleep with nothing on or a very hot scratchy comforter. The bathroom smelled mildew/moldy. When we arrived we couldn’t find staff for an hour and then the same thing happened in the evening when we wanted to take the nightly shuttle. It was quiet and no one to be found. We ended up just walking for 45 minutes and taking a taxi back.

Daniela is a super supportive lodge manager. Because of her, we really had a good time and got to know many good places in Hakuba to visit during a 2-rainy day. The lodge itself is fully equipped with a huge living room, tv with netflix, comfy sofa, so overall it is very cozy. The breakfast is good as well. Highly recommend!

There is only one shared shower room and one toilet.
