Wonderful heratige property that was welcoming for the start. Spacious accommodation and a comfortable bed.

Everything about this place is amazing. The chef Ravi was like "Alfred" to us Bat-couple for those two days.

Staff: The communication with the owner on WhatsApp before the stay was exceptional! He arranged taxis for us, allowed a late check in and answered all queries promptly. On site staff: Ravi and Valhaddi ( spelling?) were delightful. We felt like family. Their attentiveness and care for us was exceptional. Thank you. 🙏 Location: an easy and enjoyable 20 minute walk through a lovely forest road brought you right into Shimla and Mall Road. Cleanliness: exceptionally clean and daily service. Shower: oodles of hot water!! Toiletries: onsite and provided Wifi: excellent. Garden: lovely and peaceful. Breakfast: provided ( extra charge) and was served ontime.

While breakfast was good and was provided with an extra charge, I would have preferred to have been given the option to pay a little more for the room and have breakfast be included. I didn’t like to have to factor in the unknown breakfast charge in my money allocations on the last day. But that’s my preference, others might feel differently. But this was a small issue. Overall property was exceptional. I knew the rooms did not have windows.

It was a reunion trip back to my alma mater St. Edward's and I couldn't have stayed elsewhere but the Edgeworth. A lovely cottage with excellent staff led by the very capable Ravi. I mostly walked all over the place, including slightly longish walks (5-6 kms one way) to see some mates near what used to be the Vice-Regal's lodge. It's located just at the end of the Mall, and not too far from Chhota Simla. A quick detour also takes you up to US Club, Forest Road and Jakhu temple. This area of Simla is better maintained than some other parts whose maintenance and upkeep made my heart break. There are more cultural and historical buildings here that have been restored and are quite an eye candy. Ravi is an absolute star and the food he prepared was usually over-eaten because it was just so tasty.

A restoration project of this magnitude requires a certain level of understanding of design and also an appreciation of aesthetics and history. Mind you, what comes next is plain nitpicking because functionally everything worked like clockwork. The choice of furniture left a lot to be desired. It didn't have the same period feel but was more cheap and gaudy Rajasthani furniture, probably bought in bulk from somewhere. It worked well and most people wouldn't even notice, but I did. One major grouse is the windowless rooms, but given that there is enough place to sit outside, it just about passed. I hardly spent any time there.
