Kirklands Bed & Breakfast

Nice antiquated house with beautiful grounds.Host is very accommodating when serving very late and very friendly.Lovely comfy bed and nice quiet location

Seems the host was not aware of our booking!!

A few cleanliness issues, bathroom was next to the room not in the room, no key to lock the room.

Location was very good for getting about. Breakfast was good. Host was friendly but you did have to ask for things like toiletries, even basic shower gel, and heating.

The room we thought we had booked wasnt the room the host offered to us on arrival. And in fact we had to pay a further charge to get the room we had expected. The property is old and the room didnt have all the modern conveniences, ie en suite bathroom, heating on demand, large TV etc.

Property and grounds were amazing. Host very helpful and attentive.

This is a beautiful bed & breakfast property run superbly well by it's owners. Every element was as good as it gets!

We really enjoyed our stay at Kirklands House. Douglas is a very good host and made us feel welcome. He is always happy to share his vast knowledge of the Borders and its community with guests. The breakfast was delicious and included fruit from the garden! Kirklands House is set in beautiful grounds, and is situated in a tranquil yet well connected location. It is perfectly located for local attractions such as Melrose, Abbotsford, Trimontium,..., and the proximity to the A68 makes travel easy to and from Edinburgh or the South. Borders hospitality at its best! We would thoroughly recommend.

Breakfasts were excellent and made to order with lovely jams made from fruit grown on the property. My room had generous proportions with traditional furnishings; it harkened to a gentler pace of life that I found very relaxing and welcoming. With a lovely view, and and a windowseat, the room was very comfortable. The property was superbly quiet and I slept extremely well. Douglas, the owner and host, was very helpful with local recommendations and advice for this first-time visitor to Melrose.

I had to leave early because my work finished early so I didn't stay the full 3 night also I didn't have breakfast because it didn't start until 8 and I start work at 8.
