"Comfortable, convenient, and exactly what I needed for a short stay."

8.0

I liked the amount of space in the room and the heating was very good. Very secure room with a lot of comforts like tea/coffee, mini fridge, multiple beds, TV, and desk. Jim was very helpful with advice about the city and lovely to chat to!

It took me a little while to figure out how to get the hot water turned on in the shower.

We had a pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location is great — close to both the university and the city center. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall, a very good experience!

The only minor downside was that there was no shower curtain

Convention location for accessing the city centre easily and parking

I had a rather odd and somewhat negative experience here. When I booked, the booking said to pay on arrival and that check in was between 4 and 9pm. I arrived after 8.30 and there wasn't anyone there to take payment or check me in. There was an envelope with my name and a key in it left outside the front door and I had to let myself in. At the very least, some communication would have been helpful. I was in bed when I received a knock at my door at approximately 11pm. I had to quickly get dressed and was met by a member of staff who was rather rude, abrupt and impatient when he demanded that I go downstairs and pay. I have absolutely no issue paying for an amenity or service I am using, but I felt the way the payment was arranged was unprofessional and quite bizarre.. The hallway had a strange and vaguely unpleasant smell. The bedroom itself was clean, however the teaspoons that were left out with cups for making tea/coffee were not cleaned properly and were still dirty from the last person who used them. The bedclothes were clean, but the were not particularly comfortable as they were quite worn and thin - which was an issue because the room itself was quite chilly despite the radiators being on. Outside the guesthouse, the front area itself had a rather dingy appearance compared to the neighbouring houses and there were weeds growing. The price I paid for my stay here was not bad however I would not be inclined to return due to the issues mentioned. As it happened, I had to unexpectedly book another night in Galway and was able to get a room at a similar price and had a much more comfortable stay. If anyone is looking for a modestly-priced, no-frills room in Galway, I think there are better options than here
