The Old Rectory

Breakfast was rather changeable. We had 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon the first day, and only 1 of each the third day. The garden was exquisite.

The bed was rather small, and the room was compact. We only learnt about the car parking by accident when we couldn't park on the road - we were offered a place in the car park opposite.

The food and choice is superb.

Breakfast was excellent as was the service. Our room was described as "luxury" I am not sure it matched that description but was pleasant. The building was Victorian, tastfully decorated maintaining many original features.

Despite luxury description there was little space in the bathroom for storage and no body lotion supplied despite this being a spa facility. The door to the bathroom would not shut and required the bolt on the bathroom/toilet side to be used for privacy - this would not be good in an emergency as in my opinion bolts should not be used in bathroomsa.

Location, food, care of staff, size of room and decor

Bathroom window wouldn’t close so it was really cold. Black out curtain would be good as the sun shines through the black nd, lovely though it is!

Lovely small hotel/guesthouse perfectly located in the Old Town within easy reach of the very many independent shops and quirky cafes and eateries. We received the warmest of welcomes with coffee and cake and the overall vibe was friendly and laid back. Lovely spacious rooms, full of character and a very pretty garden. We had the most lovely lunch in the adjacent cafe and a treatment in the attractive spa.

Nothing although the bathrooms could do with some tlc

Great location 👌 Breakfast was good 👍 Staff were super friendly and keep our leftover dinner from the night before when we picked it up the next day early in the evening after leaving on that morning so very much appreciated that :) Shower was amazing! The decor and living room area was cosy and inviting!

The floor in our room was uneven and wasn't too keen on the washroom bathroom. Didn't hugely like being seated separately from the dining room. Nevertheless all was completely fine and would happily return.

The hotel had a wonderful atmosphere- very relaxed and friendly.
