The Old Rectory

Great location. Lovely old building. Comfortable bed and quiet at night. Granola at breakfast was really good.

Heating didn't come on until evening in our 2nd floor room- hotel had been closed for a week before arrival so likely took a while to reach top of house when turned on. Shower temperature couldn't be lowered so was too hot to stand under. We did report this to staff but they seemed to think it unlikely as 'that room is the one where it generally doesn't work'. I'd advise they check it before putting anyone else in the room as it's dangerously hot. Breakfast -apart from the amazing granola - was underwhelming. Poured a glass of wine from honesty bar and was charged for a bottle- staff said there were cans of wine but this was not at all clear on the menu in the bar cupboard. They told me to take the rest of the bottle with me! Strange customer service....

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt right at home. The staff and customer service were incredible. Our room was exactly as we hoped, so charming with a view of the gardens. The honesty bar and living room downstairs were a nice touch. The breakfast room was adorable, and the food was so delicious. House-made smoked/cured meats and homemade marmalade. We also took advantage of the lovely attached cafe. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. Amazing.
