Off the Beaten Track B&B

Everything was excellent and perfect for us, we wish we could have stayed longer. It was peaceful, quiet and quite remote, but that was exactly what we wanted, off the beaten track, away from the hustle and bustle, in a rural location with interesting history and interesting hosts who kindly took time to tell us about it. We were very grateful to them.

I highly recommend this place. The hosts are great people and the place is very comfortable and clean. The location is great and there is so much to do and see in the area.

The breakfast goodies supplied were great. The whole ambience of the property was superb. Waking each morning to mist over the hill after a very brilliant sleep was amazing.

Great welcome from lovely and interesting people Really interesting place which our hosts showed us ....glow worms, swimming areas.... Peaceful and beautiful valley. Great accommodation, spacious and really well stocked with everything we needed and more.

Sarah & David were fantastic hosts, going above and beyond to make our stay magical. The property is gorgeous, the house is clean, spacious and cosy, with everything you need to get comfortable or get cooking. The grounds and beyond are insanely fantastic and perfect to have an explore; whether it be to the river for a dip, trying your luck for gold, admiring the stars & glow worms, or soaking up the farmland with the beautiful animals and mountains. Sarah & David were so knowledgeable and welcoming, they provide endless opportunities to have a great time at their place. 11/10.

We had an excellent stay in lovely B&B of Sarah and David. Super kind and helpful couple. We enjoyed the glow worms tour 👍. Great place to wind down and enjoy the area.

This is the definition of an out-of-the-way stay. Technically there is 7 km more road past the place, but it is still a good distance from the main road. The instructions Sarah sent right before we got there were absolutely needed. I loved that she sent pictures of the last few turns as I would never have guessed that was the right direction. What made this stay outstanding was being able to do several "New Zealand bucket list" things without having to have extra tickets. The New Zealand gold rush started in the area and I got to pan for gold (I'm no good and came up dry). Glow worms are abundant in the area and David loves to take people out to see them. We hiked a trail at the end of the road which was interesting and different. The kitchen was ready for use and if the simple kitchen wasn't enough, Sarah was willing to let you use her bigger set up in the main house. Overall they are the best hosts we have had.

Okay. I admit I hated the sand flies. For some reason I must have tasted extra juicy to them because I was being bitten even after dousing in various bug repellants. My wife got a few bites. They were great about providing repellant.
