"Lack of service not worth the price"

3.0

The location was ok. About 15 mins from the harbour - bus stop practically outside the door if you’re feeling lazy! Great breakfast place next door, and a convenient Co-op and a fish & chip shop about 1 minute away. The room had a lovely big bed, a little tv with freeview channels, a kettle, and a tiny shower room with loo. Also a couple of chairs.

Only 1 breakfast sitting at 8:30, and you had to book it in advance. The traffic noise as super loud all through the night. No service as in bed not made nor bins emptied. A tiny fridge was located outside the room shared by all and pretty full for the first couple of days. The ironing board collapsed, luckily I wasn’t standing near it so didn’t get burnt or hit by the falling iron. No glass offered for water, there were some plastic beakers but I am not a child. To be honest I was reminded why I don’t stay in B&B any more. The welcome was more like a list of rules, and at the end a sentence of “I think you’ll be ok” - which I found rather rude and made me wonder what would happen if not especially as Sue said because I paid by Booking.com she couldn’t give me a refund! Which I know is utter nonsense. I wouldn’t recommend. And the plumbing! Horrendous

"Cliftonville House is a little gem! Sue is a warm & friendly host & generous with local information."

10.0

Cliftonville House is on the outskirts of Whitstable but it's not far to walk to the centre and benefits from a frequent bus service. Sue cooked a lovely breakfast each morning, making exactly what I wanted. Cereals, juice, toast and tea were also available. Bottled water is available and Sue also allows guests to use the breakfast room and microwave for a takeaway evening meal if desired.

"It was a great. We will be going back there again."

8.0

The host, the house, the parking, the storage in the room and the layout of the room. The high street is less than 10 minutes and the local shops just two minutes away. We did not have to ask for anything as things were all in any easy to get to place and Sue our friendly host welcomed us pointing out that one of the lamps we were using had a fault.

Unfortunately propery on the main road, which sometimes was quite noisy.

"Most welcoming hostess."

8.0

We were made most welcome by Sue. Unfortunately, we stayed over 3 of the hottest days of the year (33C) and our room was in the afternoon sun so it was very warm! Two fans provided -thank you - but one could not be adjusted in elevation and the other was a Dyson so useless. Otherwise an excellent stay in a nice town. Recommend the mussels in the Duke of Cumberland

No air conditioning!!!!
