Early breakfasts

Friendly welcome. Good breakfast porridge and coffee. Walking distance from town with plenty of eating options, though may be too far for some.

Bathroom/shower was next room and shared by a family member, but no awkward moments. No B&B signs outside and rather difficult to locate house number in dark. |No other guests and seemed to be just my single room.

The bedroom was basic but clean and very comfortable. The hosts were polite and friendly: Anne was especially lovely and chatted to me about the history of the area. Beautiful garden.

The shared bathroom. The bathroom was dirty, shabby and full of the hosts personal toiletries, this despite being told that they, the hosts, had an ensuite bathroom and consequently didn't use the bathroom. I found the toilet soiled so rather than complain I went to use the toilet brush.. and immediately wished I hadn't.. I have never seen such a dirty toilet brush.. It made me feel physically sick. The bin next to the toilet was also dirty and full. Breakfast was served exactly at the time I had said that I would be coming down for breakfast, which made me feel rushed as it was put in front of me the minute I sat down and told it was no skin off their nose if it was getting cold. Coffee came after the breakfast had been served and was insipid at best. Over breakfast I was asked how I was going to settle the bill. When I replied card I was asked if I had it on me. Which again felt rushed, I feel payment should be asked about either on arrival or before or after breakfast, not whilst you are eating. When I did get my bank card the host was sitting with pen and paper and asked for my card details. I enquired re a card machine and was told that he did not have one and the computer was off so he would write down my card details and take the payment later. This did not feel ok to me, so I asked if I could rather make a bank transfer via my banking APP. I was told that I could, but in such a way that I felt it necessary to say that in this day and age we are discouraged from sharing all our card details for fear of scams. The next problem was that the host didn't know his bank details and told me that they were in the information booklet which was upstairs. I think he wanted me to go and fetch it but when I suggested that he fetch it he did so.

Everything! Graham and Anne were the perfect hosts - warm and receptive. This has been one of my best B&B experiences. It totally felt like being back at home with my folks. Breakfast was delicious, and Graham would come to my room at 0630am to wake me up every morning. The bedroom and bed were very comfy, just like being on my own bed at home. Lots of books to pore through, if you've got the time. The location was just perfect. I didn't want to stay in London, and Dartford was the perfect city. It is about 35 mins away from London Charing Cross Station by train. City Centre is lively, about 20 mins walk from the accommodation, with options of restaurants to pick from. I even found a Nigerian restaurant! It was a rare find, and I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of living in London and doesn't mind the commute. Also, if you're just looking for a small quiet city, where you can relax and take quiet evening walks, then this accommodation totally is it!
