The village of Štanjel itself is beautiful and scenic. That’s where the positives end.

We received no check-in, no welcome, no support. The person managing the property is extremely rude and unprofessional and never showed up. We were left to figure everything out ourselves. Staff on-site were clueless — one girl told us it was her first week and clearly hadn’t been trained. There’s no Wi-Fi in the property, the staff told us to stand outside the neighbors apartment if we want to use Wi-Fi 😅 The sofa bed was unmade, no bedding was provided until 9 PM, and the chef awkwardly dumped it on us along with cold breakfast food, because we were told the property would be closed the next day. It’s advertised AC in all rooms, but the AC is only on the 3rd floor, living room and master bedroom have no AC installed - another false advertising. We had booked the castle as a potential wedding venue, and the manager actually cancelled our meeting with the planner behind our backs after we raised concerns, totally out of order! They had another empty property next door but refused to accommodate us or help in any way. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. Definitely the worst hospitality experiences we’ve had.

A truly unique stay in a village that is overflowing with authenticity. The room was truly unique - a renovation that was tasteful and cosy, including the outdoor area. The restaurant is very good with kind and knowledgeable service.

The reception was a bit functional and indifferent, with the only words spoken “ID cards please”. After driving for a very long time it would be nice to have some basic info about the city/property or a small welcome at least. Breakfast was served in the room but we weren’t told when - so that was a bit of a guessing game.

Really lovely and kind people & very cosy and beautiful place to stay.

The city of Štaniel si beautyful, i definitely recommend spending sime time around. Room was nice and modern, quite well equiped. The outdoor seating area was also very nice and comfy. Breakfast was super tasty.

Arriving at the accomodation was tricky. We knew we wouldnt get close to the room with our car. We didnt mind walking 5min from the parking lot, but the staff was unable to give clear instructions for us to find the accomodation easily. I felt they were irritated by me not being able to find the check in place. Makes you quite angry if you arrive late and tired. Bathroom looks nice on the pictures but in reality it smells like mold that you can see on some spots like bottom of bathroom door. Breakfast starts at 9 which i think its extremly late. If you are planing trips from this accomodation dont expect to leave before 10. On the second day of our stay we went for the breakfast at 9 but the bistro was closed noone was there only maybe after half an hour the cook showed up and told us today he will bring the breakfast into the room which we had to wait for maybe another 30 minutes. We ate the breakfast on the terrace and left the dishes. They stayed there for next 2 days. Last day we had to leave early to catch a ferry. I was hoping maybe they could prepare breakfast for us a bit earlier. I tried to contact the them by whatsapp and booking messages but noone ever replied to me.

Very nice appartment in a charmant medieval village on top of a hill. The staff was very nice and helpful. we very much loved the restaurant right at the entrance of the site. Excellent food !!!

Parking is far from the flat, outside of the medieval village. So if one has big luggages ... Also not a lot of restaurant or other activities around the site.

The apartment was new, clean, had all the amenities. Comfortable bed&pillows. Pretty, modern decoration with nice touches. Great addition was the outside patio, fully equipped and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lastly, the breakfast was absolutely amazing: delicious granola, fruit, jam, selection of cured meats - all home made! PS. If you’re there from Thursday to Sunday, do try the Prix Fixe Menu at the restaurant by the same owner. ⭐️

There was a bit of a confusion about the keys for the apartment, but it was resolved quickly.
