Penny and Andrew made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The property is beautiful, bed was comfortable, and Andrew makes an excellent breakfast!

Andrew and Penny’s property was exactly what we needed for our trip to attend a music competition Whanganui. Private room and comfortable bed, an amazing breakfast. We enjoyed hearing their stories and were very comfortable and really appreciated that we could bring our dogs. There is a beautiful garden and stunning view.

There is a separate door to the bedroom from the outside, however the main entrance is from the inside. There’s no problem but I just misunderstood when I read and I thought there was an entirely separate entrance.

We loved our stay at Shurinji. Our homesty hosts Penny and Andrew were wonderfully warm and welcoming. We left feeling we had made new friends and would like to visit again in spring when the garden is in bloom. A very comfy bed and a generous breakfast set us up well for a great day. The dogs deserve a special mention. They were delightfully chill and friendly and seemed to enjoy having our dog visiting with them.

The owner couple was absolutely lovely. I stayed with my son and a rescued dog who can't socialise with other dogs however they understood exactly where my dog's behaviours came from and helped our stay to be great. I really appreciate it.

I stayed at Shurinji one night after my flight from Nelson to Wellington on my way to the Tongariro Nationalpark. It felt like a home away from home and was like being part of a family (the two cuddly dogs included) :-) The garden is extraordinary and beautiful. Andrew and Penny took great care of me (I was having trouble with my back) and also gave me some tips what to do around Whanganui (Bushy Park for example was a great tip to see some NZ birds up close). So, a great and beautiful place to stay.

Loved the gardens and the view, just beautiful! Lots of places to throw down a picnic blanket in the sun. The hot tub outside was also wonderful each night. The breakfast each morning was a lovely touch

The description made it sound a bit more private than it was. The room was off the main living area/kitchen and only had sliding doors. The walls were not soundproof as noted, the private bathroom was just for us but not within the room but a walk through the house. Fine, just not what we expected by the description. Not sure what the spa/wellness center referred to in the ad as it was just a home with owners that lived there. We didn't ask. The ad says shared kitchen, but doesn't mention the owners are outspoken vegetarians and we got the impression meat wouldn't have been appreciated. Absolutely fine, but state that in your ad. Also, sadly the kitchen was full of mouse droppings so we wouldn't have cooked there anyway.

Hosts , Penny and Andrew engaging and hospitable. Expansive garden with lots of varied plants and roses.

At times the family pets were too friendly during our breakfasts.

Beautiful setting with a spectacular garden. Breakfasts were delicious and the hosts treated us like family.
