Sunsets and Palm Trees

A wonderful place for a true hideaway and to completely unwind. It is quite remote, but that is exactly where its charm lies. David, the host, and Rinu, the manager, are incredibly kind and—most importantly—exceptionally helpful. We had many questions about the backwaters, especially for Rinu, and he assisted us with everything, either directly or by connecting us with the right people. We have never experienced this level of personal care and support before. Highly recommended for anyone looking for peace, authenticity, and outstanding hospitality.

My stay was absolutely spectacular. This place is a beautiful retreat, completely isolated from civilization and perfect for anyone looking for peace and quiet. David and his wife have done an incredible job creating such a welcoming, cozy and charming space. The jacuzzi truly makes a difference, but above all, the tranquility of the place is what stands out the most. The attention and care were outstanding, especially thanks to Rinu, who makes sure you never lack anything and is always attentive to every detail and any need you might have. Due to the remote location, getting certain things can be a bit challenging without a car, but Rin-Nu takes care of everything and ensures the experience is exactly what it should be. Meals need to be booked in advance, as they have a cook who comes to the property and prepares generous, homemade dishes that are truly authentic to Kerala and absolutely delicious. Without a doubt, this is a place I would highly recommend, and I am sure that if I return to Kerala, I will stay here again.

It’s worth noting that the property is very disconnected from nearby towns. On one hand, this is exactly what makes it special and allows you to fully disconnect, but on the other hand, it also means that going out for a drink or exploring on your own is not easy. Ride-hailing services like Uber do not operate in this area, so leaving the property can be quite complicated.

Nous avons passé 3 jours fabuleux au Sunsets and Palm Trees. Les chambres sont très jolies, bien meublées et la piscine privée, certes toute petite, mais bien suffisante et agréable pour se rafraîchir au milieu du jardin luxuriant et bien entretenu. Rien ne manque, la déco, le jardin, le gazebo au bord de l'eau sous lequel on prend un succulent et copieux petit déjeuner , en regardant les bateaux passer. Trop beau! Et surtout, surtout, que dire du formidable accueil de Rinu, gentil et attentionné pour tout. Il nous a organisé nos visites, appelé les taxis, aidé pour beaucoup de choses. Il faut savoir que c'est en pleine nature à plusieurs km des villages. Donc, soit on prend le tuk-tuk pour aller manger, soit on se fait livrer. Mais Rinu veille et nous seconde en tout. Nous avons fait du kayak, une sortie de 3h en bateau sur les canaux, une balade en tuk-tuk dans la campagne environnante, tout cela grâce à lui. Un grand merci à lui pour sa gentillesse et son professionnalisme. Bref, vous l'aurez compris, ne passez pas à côté de cette pépite.

C'est un sans faute pour ce petit trésor des Backwaters ! La communication avec David le propriétaire était de très bonne qualité. Rinu, le gestionnaire sur place, est très professionnel, très aimable, très attentionné, il est tout à fait à la hauteur du standing de cet hôtel de charme. Nous avons séjourné dans le bungalow qui a son jardin et son jacuzzi privatif, c'est une merveille : c'est beau, très bien décoré, spacieux, propre, plein de charme et d'exotisme ! Le petit déjeuner sous le gazebo sur piloti est un moment exceptionnel : les péniches des Backwaters, les pêcheurs en pirogues, les canards et les oiseaux tropicaux défilent sous vos yeux... Les petits déjeuners kéralais sont différents chaque matin, un délice. L'hôtel est éloigné d'Allepey et c'est tant mieux : c'est très calme et loin des touristes. Le clou du séjour fut la balade en kayak, à faire absolument, c'est le meilleur moyen pour profiter des canaux et de leur charme. Bref, on a adoré, ce fut le meilleur lieu de notre circuit organisé sans agence.

We were lucky enough to spend a couple of days at this beautiful place and have felt absolutely comfortable and at home from the first minute. This was - above all - thanks to David's incredible hospitality and kindness. Yet the whole place and nature surroundings are stunning, the service from Rinu was perfect and the rooms are cozy. You can feel that a lot of thought and heart has gone into creating a peaceful and relaxing experience for guests. We can recommend this place 100 percent if you want to unwind from the hustle and bustle of traveling.

We had a great time there. Everything was so calm and relaxing. David and Rin were very helpful and made our stay even more special. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend!

A beautiful quiet place to rest. The room had alot of privacy and also the outside area with private pool was amazing, surrounded by plants, the local colibri and fruitbats above. Rinu was an excellent host: providing and arranging really nice breakfast, tuktuk when needed, and extra information about the surroundings and places to see. I had a comfortable and easy stay thanks to him.

Amazing location and beautiful rooms decorated with taste. We had our own private pool with view on the backwaters. Breakfast and dinner by the water while the backwaters life pass by is unique. A rare find in Kerala!
