Alice was an amazing host and we had so much extra space to enjoy: the garden with patio table, chairs and umbrella, a living room where we could relax, coffee and tea making facilities, huge bedroom with comfy bed and fantastic views. The shower was great and there was a lovely big bathtub which I hope to use next time. I loved the window seats and the breakfast was delicious: fresh, local eggs; artisan bread, homemade jam and marmalade, local honey. Alice made us so welcome and couldn't do enough for us to ensure we had the perfect break. A beautiful setting right at the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors which was perfect for walks and also close enough to get to the coast.

Great breakfast very accommodating proprietor and we were greeted with tea and cake on arrival. Quiet country side location but within driving distance to Whitby, Scarborough and the coast. Ideal for walkers. Amazing cottage if you like period building. It felt like I was in a Brontë book.

Disappointed there was no en-suite or tv in the room.

Location and breakfasts

We understood the lack of any TV but expected tea making facilities in the room and also an en suite bathroom thinking they came as standard to any B and B these days ,also, a wardrobe for hanging clothes would have been handy.

It couldn't have been a better experience for us. Alice was wonderful and couldn't do enough to make us welcome. Her breakfast sets you up for the whole day and the Coronation cake she baked was incredible. Couldn't find anything not to like, and the setting was out of this world. Peace and quiet like no where else we've ever visited. Thankyou Alice. (And Michael, Musket and Stanley!)

Leaving!

It was really peaceful and quiet, with lovely views across countryside, yet a 10min (approx) walk along a public footpath took us to the edge of Hutton le Hole. Its a lovely old building (grade 2 listed) with very thick walls built in the 1700s. We watched wildlife from the property. After a busy day sightseeing it was fabulous to relax in a hot bath and depending on the time and season - watch the sun go down whilst in the bath.

Everything was FANTASTIC. Superb host. Personalised breakfasts. Quiet, tranquil, peaceful location. It was the best guest house my parents have EVER stayed in. They would very happily returned. Loved talking to the host.

There is NOTHING we didn't like.

This house is very close to a cute and picturesque village and so close to several walks on the moors. Alice is a fantastic host and she can’t do enough to help you. Our room was great with a spectacular view and a super comfortable bed. We felt like at home and breakfast is amazing, it kept us going all day. When we were leaving we felt like we were saying goodbye to a family member and will definitely go back again.
