Cavell House Bed and Breakfast

The owners were so friendly and took such trouble to provide a lovely breakfast on a a tray in my room. Delicious coffee & warm croissant. Also it is a house with a History; Nurse Edith Cavell, shot by the Germans in World War I, considered by some to be a Saint, had stayed there. And Clevedon is the most amazing town with its Victorian pier and sea water bathing pool.

Location. Also in walking distance of Clevedon Hall. Close to water front

The lady receptionist. Needs to get a grip of her job. Made us feel uncomfortable. Unwelcoming. Spent a long time booking us in. Asked for payment! We paid extra on our booking to include breakfast. On arrival, we were asked if we wanted to pay £2.50 per guest to upgrade to a full English breakfast. Based on similar BandB like Best western and Premier Inn. Nearby. I expected a cooked breakfast to be part of the deal. We were told our radiator was OFF and it could possibly be arranged for them to turn it on just before us coming back to the house. The entrance and hallway stank of damp. It was dull looking. They need to upgrade their photos on your site. Not telling a true picture. The car park had 5 cars parked all un road worthy. Looked proper shabby. Unable to share photos. As we left in a hurry due to us switching on TV at 9.am . Only to have this woman knocking on our door to turn the volume down? Weird the TV was set at their settings. WIFI on TV didn't work either. Had to go to reception to find WiFi for our phones. No paperwork/instructions in room. We are a mature couple. Average conservative people didn't understand about the TV. We also had to give a 15 minute slot the day b4 as to when we would arrive at the dinning room for breakfast. The front door was unmanageable. Heavy. Couldn't get in on arrival. Locked. Unfortunately we were next to front door. So had to endure the door being slammed often. The room was very clean.

Room was clean but tired.

Shower and toilet in the centre of the room

Location is very central and convenient. The gentleman who chwcked us in was very kind.

A rather run down facility for the price they are charging. A toilet was "added" into the corner of the room, which looked odd. The toilet had a noisy extraction fan connected to the light. If you turn the light on the fan doesnt switch itself of for the next 10-15 minutes, which is not ideal if it is the middle of the night. If you arrive after sunset, the xhwck in desk area is very dark. The overall facility may need some refurbishement, which I would assume they could afford by charging London hotel prices.

Was very easy to find and close to restraints and the sea front. Bedroom had clean linen and was very comfortable. Bathroom also very clean and towels great.

Awful smell as soon as you walk into the building, severely in need of an update!

The beds were very comfortable. I wanted to take it home. The room clean and warm. Breakfast was very nice.

The location was ok but when we drove up it looked very unkempt. Two broken down cars that were scrap on the carpark. The outside need tidying up and painting. It needed sweeping and all the trees cut back. I was concerned about staying but the staff were lovely.

Convenient for the motorway. Parking on site and a warm large bedroom and en-suite
