Rumah Sawah

Nice and clean room in a large garden with a great pool. The owner is very kind and brings fruit from his garden en spoils you with delicious fruit juices. At the moment, they don’t serve breakfast. But you can easily order a delicious breakfast by Grab (Asian Uber). Rumah Sawah is located just outside the hustle en bustle of the city. By Grab you are within 10 minutes (1 euro) at the trendy Jalan Prawirotamen with a lot of nice restaurants, or the Watercastle. We first stayed a few days at a luxury but impersonal hotel in the city center, but we preferred the quiet atmosphere, the kindness and the beautiful green environment of Rumah Sawah.

A beautiful, peaceful oasis only a short scooter ride away from the busy center of Yogyakarta. Nanang and his wife Joan are the kindest of hosts. Highly recommend!

Rumah Sawah Homestay is truly a home away from home, a magical quiet garden in the ever busy, bustling city of Yogyakarta. Our three-night stay was delightful, thanks to Nanang's attentive hospitality. Every day, we were welcomed with freshly made papaya or banana smoothies, and there was always coffee or tea readily available. Nanang also provided excellent food recommendations, enhancing our experience. Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful home. We hope to return someday.

This place is a slice of heaven in the havoc of a very busy city, it’s a short grab ride to all sites yet this area has a local feel with rice fields nearby and the quite of the countryside was a haven/blessing to us Nanang and his wife were so friendly and helpful we loved the tasty smoothie Nanang brought us each day as a treat. He keeps a flask of hot water available to each room so it’s lovely to have a coffee looking at the pool and gardens. Room was cleaned every day and the staff are so friendly. We actually rushed out for a grab one day and left out key stuck in our door. Neither of us had any concern to go back and felt our passports and belongings were 100 % in the room under Nanangs care as he was so amazing a host. He locked our room and had our key safely for us that evening which we knew he would ❤️ The rooms surround the pool behind his own house and there is a gate at the end of the driveway that is locked at night but everyone has the key so it’s such a safe area to be. We ordered food using grab a few nights and it was delivered quickly, Nanang has plates, cutlery etc in the room. Our temples guide picked us up easily at this location as it’s towards the Borobudur side of the city.

Very, very nice host with amazing fruitshakecreation every day. The garden, the pool and the room were superb.

The shower was either super hot or cold. After 2 minutes it stayed cold. Water came only out of half of the shower head. Toilet is very clean but had stains.

Nanang is the best host one could ever get. He keeps the space with such delicate care , it feels so warm and welcoming. Would love to visit again . Thank you

I liked Rumah Sawah very much. This has been already my second stay there and I will definitely come back again and I will recommend it to my friends because it is really number 1 in Yogyakarta. This place is known by local people as a great place to stay. When local people asked me where I am staying and I mentioned Rumah Sawah everybody confirmed me that it is known as a great place to stay. It is very quiet (silent) place but on the other hand, there is everything you need around- coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets open nonstop (7/7, 24/24- Indomaret and others...), laundry and everything...food delivery was also very easy and cheap and they delivered my meal to Rumah Sawah always very quickly. If you need to go to whatever other places in Yogyakarta or out of Yogyakarta it is very easy, quick and cheap to get a taxi. It is much better stay in Rumah Sawah and to go whenever you want easily...it is much better than to stay in another part of Yogyakarta that might be too noisy- mostly the hotels by Marioboro are too noisy all night...

I read the reviews before booking this place, and I must say that everything mentioned in the reviews holds true. This is more than a hotel; it feels like home, not just a place to stay. It's a great spot for relaxation. The garden is beautiful, the swimming pool is fantastic, and the owner of the hotel and her husband are very nice and always ready to help with everything. I have already booked my second stay at this hotel... thanks for everything.

When you enter the property , you walk into a tropical garden with flowers, birds and fruit. Then there’s a beautiful that awaits you. Then you enter the spacious room. Then Nanang presents some delicious papaya juice. That’s in the first 10 minutes. The room is clean, beds are comfy , there is a kettle with tea and coffee if you desire. A nice veranda to sit and listen to the birds Nanang was a fabulous host. Always there providing information , chatting about the garden and juice everyday. I dated for 6 nights and wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you , thank you , thank you.
