Quaint, private, calming and relaxing. Well equipped rooms and the pool was gloriously crisp on a very hot day.

It has an Olde World charm, a soothing garden and it’s run by a very caring, hands-on host, Nicola, who went the extra mile and secured reservations at the 2 busiest restaurants in town.

The garden and the room were perfect. Very simple but so thoughtfully and artistically presented.

I liked the location, and the host.

The property was disappointing and needs a serious upgrade! The entrance to the property is not a standard height, and I bumped my head several times while entering the property, which was quite irritating! The property does not offer closed off bedrooms, but instead the living and bedroom areas are combined, and rather cluttered. It was a very warm evening, and there is no aircon. Although there were two fans provided, it was rather difficult to sleep, having to choose between suffering from the heat or putting up with the air currents to cool down. Also, the handrail was missing from the staircase which led to the entrance of the property, which is a stacked duplex and whereas we were booked into the top unit. This may have been okay for us, but with no handrail to hold on to, this is not ideal for either small children or elderly people. Whereas we opt for a property that included breakfast, this too was disappointing as we weren't expecting a continental breakfast to be spread out on the kitchen table (we were not given a choice), and therefore not sufficient whereas we prefer gluten free options. My son wanted to toast the bread that was left on the breakfast table, but again, the toaster couldn't be used because we needed an adapter which wasn't provided until after it was communicated to the host. This didn't solve the problem though, whereas we couldn't connect the toaster to the adapter and gave up, leaving the property without eating breakfast. I felt that the accommodation was overpriced, and definitely bad value for money. I won't return to The Whitehouse.

Host was very friendly and was generous to allow us to stay a while after checkout.

It had a real colonial feel. We were the only ones there so perfect for a 1 night stop over. Mid way point between Stellenbosch and Wilderness. The host, Nicola, was super friendly and make us feel very welcome. Perfect little kitchen area within the room with homemade jam and pate. A rare find. Host also booked us a table at the local hotel for dinner, just a short walk. Also a fabulous find. Loved it.
