Mountain Home Bed & Breakfast

Great location for hiking and Shenandoah national park, the scenic parkway is only a few miles away. Host is very nice and knowledgeable of the area.

Excellent breakfast. Large bathroom and bedroom. Great for seniors to be on first floor. Ample coffee and tea available. Owners were very pleasant and helpful.

Location too far outside town. Bed was uncomfortable.

Rich with history. Fascinating story of previous owners and Civil War.

Front Royal was the perfect halfway point for us to stop overnight during a 9 hr road trip from NC to NJ and Mountain Home was a delightful place to stay just outside of Front Royal. The historic building has been lovingly restored and updated and the owners are happy to share the history of the house and its restoration. Chatting with hikers on the Appalachian Trail who were staying there was a highlight, and we did a short hike on the AT ourselves as a gateway is steps from the property. Breakfast was excellent and hearty.

The Civil War era four poster bed in our room was charming but made for an uncomfortable rest -- we moved to the day bed and trundle bed in the middle of the night. The owners took our comments about the mattress to heart, however, and are planning to replace it!

Close to Applachian Trail, close to vineyards, easy drive to Lurray Cavarns
