Grootvlei Guest Farm

When we arrived we received a surprising upgrade to the Owner's house, which was lovely and extremely comfortable. It really is a wonderful, neat and spacious home for a family. Big kitchen with every possible item that you would need for a large family, including a dishwasher, 5 burner gas stove, huge double door fridge/freezer combo as well as a chest freezer. The dining room table has space for 10-12 people and the lounge is extremely comfortable. The 2 bedrooms are both en-suite, with walk in showers and there are additional day beds for 3-4 people. There is also a huge braai room with a indoor braai and a boma. It is an extremely comfortable and welcoming area. The breakfast is ample and delicious. The staff is extremely accommodating, polite and friendly. One thing I would like to mention - on the Booking.com website it is mentioned that towels are supplied at a fee - this is incorrect. Towels are supplied free of charge!!! The farm itself is very lovely. It is quiet and one can hear the waves crashing on the rocks at high tide, especially at night. We walked around and three ducks followed us everywhere we went. I felt like the Mama duck followed by her 3 ducklings. It was so funny. A Huge Thank you to Martin and good luck with the Coffee Shop. Variety and preparation

The location was excellent - right on the beach.

The bed & pillows were uncomfortable and the sheets rather thread-bare. You can hear all the comings and goings as the walls are thin. The breakfast was a short drive away in the main annex, but was disappointing.

We liked the area and the friendly people. The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious enough.

I found that the carpet in the room was a bit smelly. Maybe a better option would be either tiles or wooden floors.

Location was not what we expected. Hotel is described as beachfront but perhaps that was another section of accommodation because you could not see a wave break nor hear the sea even though we were on first floor/sea view. The seaview is at a distance and to get to the beach you have to cross the main road and then dunes.
