Coastal Villa Mirissa

- great location around 15 minutes walk to the beach. - extremely quiet! This hotel is on a dead end road and is the quietest place I stayed in while in Sri Lanka - comfortable beds, hot water, clean - they accept credit cards (with a small fee)

- some sheer privacy curtains would have been fantastic! I wanted to open my curtains but felt like I couldn’t due to people being able to walk by at any time

"I had a wonderful stay at Coastal Villa Mirissa! The villa is nestled in the beautiful tourist city of Mirissa, making it the perfect location for exploring the area. The cleanliness of the property was exceptional, and the service provided by the staff was top-notch—always friendly and attentive. I also highly recommend trying the Sri Lankan food offered here; it was absolutely delicious and a true highlight of my stay. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend Coastal Villa Mirissa to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

What a fantastic hotel ! It is located in a calm and quiet area. Its garden and surrounding was super green and neat, yet all cafes, restaurants and the beach within walking distance. We were lucky that this place gave us the sound of nature, specially sound of many birds including peacock, in the morning. Also we were able to see lovely squirrels, monkeys. The room was very comfortable and clean. It had all amenities we needed. Water pressure in the bathroom was very good and bathroom had all the needed amenities. Hotwater in the bathroom was so good after a tired and busy day. Host was very friendly. Staff was always ready to assist, whenever we neded. This hotel has sustainabile practices which we consider as highly valuable. Everything was excellent and definitely it is a great value for money. We recomend this hotel very highly and we would definitely be back.

We were so sad that we were unable to spend few more days in this great villa due to having to move for the next adventure of our journey. But we will definitely come back.

The positive side of things: great location, away from the traffic and loud bars in town but still a walking distance from the beach. The host was very kind to recommend us a driver to Colombo and direct us to a clinic when someone in the group needed medical assistance. The people looking after the property were happy to assist. With a bit of effort here and there this property has the potential to get the maximum rating.

Slightly unprofessional from the host to repeatedly ask us to provide a maximum rating. We thought an honest review would be more helpful so here it is: The cleaning standard could have been higher, as the rooms were not properly cleaned (taps, wc, mirror, and generally a bit dusty) and had to ask to be cleaned again, which didn’t make much of a difference to be fair. Unless you specifically ask for a variation, the breakfast invariably consists of omlette, fruits and coffee.

The staff were very kind and accommodating. We checked in very late because our safari transport had some delays that we couldn’t control. We arrived late and very tired and the manager was super friendly and kind to us. It’s great value for money and we had a comfortable stay. The manager was around to provide us with extra towels, he offered us coffee and tea and he took care of our bags for us after we checked out.

It was located through a few dark back streets that aren’t really suitable for walking alone. We walked in the day (great distance to all shops, restaurants and the beach) but would recommend getting a tuktuk in the dark especially for female solo travellers. We always felt completely safe and never felt in danger but I wouldn’t have wanted to walk it alone at night. I think the linens could have done with updating and more towels and bathroom towels could have been provided.
