We had a great stay at Riva. Nice B&B, great location and Michel is a wonderful host.

We had a really wonderful stay at Riva. Isla Carenero is really special, with lots of lovely sandy beaches and fun bars/restaurants. The room was very comfortable and the view from the deck was lovely. The breakfast was also delicious every morning. The bed was great! Eduardo was really friendly and gave us so many great recommendations of places to eat and things to see. He also recommended a tour to the Zapatilla islands, which he kindly booked for us. The location of Riva is really great, with water taxis able to pick you up/drop you off directly at Riva’s dock.

Very few critiques, maybe a few more places to hang clothes would be useful, but the room had everything you needed for a chilled stay.

C'est notre première fois dans un BB donc je n'ai pas apprécié la toilette partagée.

Michel notre hôte nous a guidé jusqu’à lui pendant 24h. Petit dejeuner incroyable que lui meme prépare !!!. De bons conseils pour les activites et restaurants ( ouvertures, fermetures) .L’endroit est paradisiaque , bocas a 1 minute!!! Et le Surf à 2 minutes sur la meme île !!! Merci encore

El lugar muy cómodo y limpio, bien ubicado. El desayuno súper completo y el spot con muy linda vista. Michel con muy buena disposición y nos entregó buenas recomendaciones para disfrutar la isla.

Ania served a delicious homemade breakfast.

Communication: Every other property we stayed at in Panama, we received a message/WhatsApp from the property beforehand with check in instructions. We received no communication from Ania about how to get to the property, check in, contact her, etc. We ultimately found the property ourselves and were welcomed by the housekeeping staff instead of the host. When we did meet the host, it was brief and she still didn't give us a means to contact her if we needed assistance. When we were having significant issues at the property later that night, she could not be reached and we had to troubleshoot things ourselves. Facilities: This the first B&B/hotel I have stayed at that does not provide basic toiletries for guests. The shower had no soap or shampoo which felt unacceptable in a tropical, beach location. Most comparable properties in the area also offer paddle boards, kayaks, etc for their guests to use on the water - it would be nice if Riva B&B offered this as well. Cleanliness: We discovered a cockroach in our bathroom trashcan which raises issues about cleanliness on the property. Ania suggested cockroaches on the property are "normal on the island," but I have traveled to many tropical locations and stayed at other properties on Isla Carenero, and this has not been my experience elsewhere. Comfort: A gecko entered the room after crawling through a gap beneath the doorframe (which we witnessed occur!) I have a fear of lizards, so between the lizard AND the cockroach in the room, I needed to leave. The room next door had a sliding door with a sealed doorframe and no way for critters to enter. When we asked Ania to please switch our room, she gaslit us and suggested we brought the lizard in our suitcases or that we had stashed food in the room (we had none) which attracted the gecko. She then told us we shouldn't travel to tropical areas if we are going to be this picky - which was offensive.

I truly loved the warm, family-style hospitality of the owner — a level of care and attention you don’t often find in guesthouses. Everything was well-organized and pleasant, from the breakfast service to the room and property maintenance.

I have to say, I loved everything — I’d be happy to come back to this place every year.

Me encantó. Ania , la dueña , te hace sentir desde el momento que llegas como en casa. Te da muchos datos de lugares donde comer, visitar. Te ayudar con los tours, etc. Te atiende ella misma con un delicioso desayuno. También tienes la posibilidad de lavar la ropa ahí mismo , más barato que en el pueblo. La vista desde la casa es espectacular y dormir con el ruido del mar es maravilloso. Cruzas a Bocas del Toro en un par de minutos en los botes taxi, a cualquier hora, incluso de madrugada.U$ 1 hasta las 21:00 p/p , luego de esa hr cobran U$2. Pienso que gran parte del encanto de este hotel se lo da su dueña, su perrito y sus dos gatitos. Los amé. Muchas gracias por unos días tan lindos en Carenero!!
