RIVA B&B

The setting is beautiful and the property is really charming. Being directly on the water is an amazing experience and the deck terrace is a great place to hang out. We loved staying on Isla Carenero because of the super easy access to Bocas town and the short walk to great beaches nearby. Michel was a kind host and helped us out with a few things.

As we already knew from past reviews, the room was quite small and sparse, lacking a lot of basic amenities. However, the most frustrating thing is that they charge more than what's published on booking.com. They say there's a 4% charge for credit cards (no charge for cash, but that can be a lot of cash to bring!), but it's actually 8%, since they add 4% and their payment platform charges an additional 4%. They notify you about the 4%, but after you've made a non-refundable booking, which seems to be their only rate option. For us it wasn't about the money, but the principle - just include the fees in the booking.com total so it's all upfront, instead of doing sort of a weak little bait and switch. We messaged Riva about this on two occasions but didn't receive a response. Lastly, as a guest, the experience also felt really inconsistent. We were never provided beach towels or told they were available, until we saw other guests with them on the last day. We were also told not to take too much water from the dispenser. The kitchen is available to use, but no coffee or other amenities available. So it just seemed more like a hostel than a B&B or Hotel.

Tolle Unterkunft in perfekter Lage! Die Zimmer und das geteilte Bad wurden jeden Tag geputzt. Das Frühstück welches der Besitzer Michel jeden Morgen liebevoll selbst macht ist auch super. Auch so ist er zuvorkommend und hat uns tolle Tipps für die Umgebung gegeben! Wir freuen uns schon irgendwann wiederzukommen!

Nous avions réservé au départ une seule nuit à l’Riva B&B et finalement nous sommes restés trois nuits. Un grand merci surtout à Michel pour son super accueil et tous ses conseils. Il nous a aidés pour organiser les activités mais aussi pour les restaurants, toujours de très bonnes recommandations. L’hôtel est super bien placé à Bocas Town pour faire toutes les activités autour des îles tout en étant proche des restaurants et des bateaux. Les chambres sont très confortables et calmes, on y dort vraiment bien. Les couchers de soleil depuis le ponton sont magnifiques, et on peut même voir plein de poissons et des étoiles de mer juste en dessous. On pensait rester une nuit… et finalement on est restés trois. C’est souvent le meilleur signe que l’endroit est vraiment bien.

Idyllic location on Isla Carenero. Waking up to the sound of the waves outside my window made it so special. Breakfast was first class. Short walk to incredible white sand beaches. Only wish I had stayed longer!

Un séjour merveilleux dans en lieu incontournable. La maison et son environnement marin incroyable non d'égale que l'accueil de Michel qui nous a reçu d'une main de maître. Gentillesse, propreté et petits déjeuners excellents. Un établissement à faire obligatoirement durant votre séjour à Bocas surtout si vous voulez faire du snorkleling. Merci à Michel et à son équipe.

Very close to Bocas Town. Beautiful space on the water. Very friendly staff (Michel). Yummy breakfast. Close distance and easy walking paths to beach and restaurants.

Adoramos nossa estadia aqui! O lugar é lindo, com paz e calmaria. Amamos ficar longe da muvuca do centro mas ao mesmo tempo perto. As camas são grandes e confortáveis, tudo bem novinho e Michel, o dono, muito querido. O café da manhã também é ótimo. Acabamos estendendo a nossa estada por mais um dia, ainda que nos quarto com banheiro compartilhado.
