The facilities were located in a quiet neighborhood. Although the room was a part of their family home, it had a separate entrance and a private bathroom, allowing the guest more privacy. We dined with the family, enjoying a typical vegetarian meal fixed by them.

Room was comfortable and well priced

Mario and his wife Juliana are a very sweet couple. Their place is very close to the main plaza in Taquile, but it was very quiet and peaceful. I learned a lot from them when we had dinner and they talked about their life on the island. The room itself was also a good size and the bed had plenty of blankets.

The bathroom was outside the room—which is not uncommon on the islands—but because my room was upstairs and the bathroom downstairs it was a tough trek especially in the middle of a super cold night. On that note, the night I spent was incredibly cold and even with lots of blankets and warm clothes, I felt cold. There’s also no wifi and no signal, so it’s a great place to tune out from everything else but if you’re not looking for that kind of experience, it’s something to be aware of.

Beautiful location. Our hosts Mario and Julia were so kind and welcoming and really made us feel at home. The food was delicious and the view of the lake was breathtaking and the island had many beautiful paths to hike. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay on Taquile Island.

The room had an amazing view on the sunrise and the lake. The hosts were super helpful and they prepared us a very good dinner and breakfast. Would really recommend to spend a night in taquile and stay at Mario and Julia.

Hospitality, location

Close to the main square, easy to get to the port Chilcano

Bad vibe. No one met us at the square as was promised, had to stay there in pouring rain waiting, luckily a local lady showed us the way. There’s no sign or directions, you cant find the place yourself. We arrived soaked, no towel was given, couldn’t get tea to warm up. No toilet paper, no soap to shower. The towel wasn’t washed, was still with a tag. The blanket is very hard. For breakfast you get two pancakes with jam, that’s all. Dinner is canned tuna with French fries. The owner gave misleading information about the boats and restaurants. They tried to charge us a higher price than was in booking. The lady who made breakfast was very nice, but can’t say the same about the man.
