Taquile Hospedaje Mario

Mario and his wife were wonderful hosts! The rooms were clean and the water was hot. Mario greeted us at the port and walked us to his home. Excellent location close to the center where lunch is served daily. Mario made us nice breakfast and dinner daily. Great location to walk and enjoy the scenery.

The property was great! But just a note that the island is hilly with many incline and declines. Not the best place to pack a lot of luggage if you are unfit.

Very basic but clean property. Mario and Julia are great hosts. They are very helpful and kind.

Highly recommend staying at Marios!! It is a great way exploring the island apart from the touristic hustle and bustle. Mario will show you around the island and will tell you all about their traditions and way of living. The bed was really comfortable, you will have a hot shower and an amazing dinner cooked by Marios wife. It was a one of a kind experience!

Mario and his wife are really nice and welcoming. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable at their house. Quite big bedroom. Clean and good food.

It is quite cold, so please be sure to bring warm clothes at night. Our bedroom didn't have a bathroom so we had to go outside in the middle of the night to use the common bathroom.

Mario’s home is amazing, super cute and very clean. It is located very close to Taquile’s main square. Mario and his wife Juliana are the best host ever. Juliana helped us to bring our luggage uphill to their home. She was so helpful and strong! Mario also showed us the island around and both cooked nice dinner/breakfast for us. The rooms are basic but extremely clean and very cozy. We slept very well at night and enjoyed a lot our stay with Mario and Juliana!

Everything was great. Just take into account that for reaching their home you need to take a hilly path of around 1 km, so bring as light luggage as possible.

Wonderful place. Our hosts were inpecable, and the island is a magical place. Would recommend for anyone to at least spend a night in Taquiles; a 2 hour tour simply is not enough.

Not a dislike, rather a warning - this is a small island community with little in the way of variety of restaurants, access to bars & wifi, etc. The food is simple but delicious, and the island is beautiful. Make sure you come with the right expectations and you will be throughly charmed.

It's not just an accomodation. You're in for a full island experience. Mario took us for walks around the island and told us all about its people, traditions and history. We very much enjoyed our stay.

It gets very cold at night, so be prepared and bring warm clothes.

We spent 2 nights at Hospedaje Mario in Taquile and it was an incredible and heart-warming experience! Mario and his wife Julia showed us around the island and taught us about the traditions, crafts and way of life of the people of Taquile. They were so welcoming, kind and helpful, and Julia cooked an amazingly delicious meal for us in the evenings! The room was simple but clean, with enough blankets to keep us warm on the cold nights. An unforgettable experience! We really enjoyed our stay at this homestay in Taquile and had the honour of experiencing life on this quiet and amazing island!

An amazing and unforgettable experience. Mario and Julia were the best hosts. They showed us all over the island, answered all questions in detail and are just one of the nicest people we have ever met around the world. The island is a magical place, rarely any disturbing noises, just nature and an tranquil lifestyle. The nature is absolutely stunning. If you come to the island make sure to stay at least 1, better 2 or more nights to fully discover the island and to give your mind and soul a proper reset! Rooms were very comfy with 24h electricity and in our case a hot shared shower. You can eat lunch at the local community restaurant and Julia will make breakfast and dinner for a very reasonable price. Local crafts can be bought directly from them or from other families at the main square.These products can not be found in any other place! Just make sure to bring enough cash as there is no ATM on the island and only one little store accepts card payment. If you are in Peru or in Bolivia make sure to spend at least 2 nights here, you will not regret it!

I don't think that there is anything which could have been better! The only think which limited us was that we forgot to take enough cash. Therefore, do not hesitate and book your stay with them on this beautiful island.
