Location...quiet Heritage building with view over the river.. Lovely surroudings and restaurant close by.

I had a bad fall as I tripped on a step into the kitchen . They would do well to put some light coloured tape there or a warning sign! My knee is badly injured and I have been unable to continue my holiday as intended. Still hindering mobility after 6 days.

Breakfast was amazing, if a little steep in price, staff at the restaurant were kind and helpful, and even prepared a cheese platter for me to eat when I arrived well after the kitchen was closed. There is a nice quiet common room (farmhouse kitchen) with a table and seating for anyone wanting to eat their own picnic not in their room or just to enjoy sitting in a quiet spot and reading. The on demand car service I hired to take me to the train the morning of my departure was prompt, friendly and reasonably priced compared to a taxi. Perfect spot on the quiet side of the canals for those who have a kayak or bicycle to travel to Breukelen, Maarssen and Utrecht.

Public Transportation options are limited - as I prefer to walk than try to hire taxis, I racked up over 20,000 steps daily, and walked from Maarssen to the B&B one night because I missed the last bus. Walking east/west overland is NOT an option because the area has a lot of canals, which is also part of the charm. On site bike rental or option to pre-arrange pickups and drop offs within 10 minute drive would have been helpful, as would guidance for those arriving by train on how to get a bike at the station for the duration of the stay. Some might also find stairs in the house difficult -it is an old building, beautiful and full of character with a seriously non-standard staircase and loose flooring tiles on the second floor hallway - even without any particular physical disabilities, I was a concerned about the slip/fall hazard the first few times I came in and out.

We had a great time. It was clean, cozy, warm and comfortable. They welcomed us with a warm attitude and courtesy. There are great places around to walk, it's peaceful and one can fully enjoy. I recommend! 😌

Great welcome, fantastic view/neighborhood, excellent meal/breakfast. Super value if you're not hooked on Marriot style luxury.
