Fabulous Ambience, Great friendly family orientated. The fireplace was wonderful. Felt really homely and relaxed. Thank you Claire and Steve.

Waited to long for hot water when running the shower! When it finally arrived it was great.

As a functional place to stay this accommodation is satisfactory.

Unfortunately myself and my friends I stayed with are having to leave a negative review which we have spent some time deliberating. Although welcoming to begin with, the hosts quite quickly began to divulge frankly vile personal views that left us extremely shaken and unhappy about. As three white presenting guests they felt it was okay to racially profile and describe a different guest staying with us in the house at the same time with us and we saw them treat this guest differently in front of us. Prior to arriving we had opted to have the home cooked meal however this led to us spending more time in the hosts company. In that time we were told a number of racist, homophobic, anti-religious, abusive and violent stories which we did not share and made us extremely uncomfortable. We considered checking out early to leave but as one of the hosts had got more and more inebriated we were actually scared of the reactions this would cause so we opted to leave as soon as we could in the morning. The host made a light joke of the heavy conversations the night before as we were leaving but we did not entertain this. I have complained about their behaviour to booking.com and it's taken me some time to find the words to write the review so I'm wondering if they have toned down their behaviour since my complaint. I still wanted to leave this public one as I cannot in good conscience risk someone staying here who would be made to feel uncomfortable and unwanted in their presence, particularly if they are a person of colour. I am not the first person to leave a review like this but I hope I am the last. I would not recommend staying here. I also anticipate a colourful reply from Claire which I see she does to anyone leaving a negative response which I am willing to take if this review still helps someone else.

Host was great fun,and welcoming. Evening meal was enjoyable and plentiful. Warm comfy room.I'd go again.

The property is in a beautiful semi-rural location and is near the walking tracks of the Hunua Range's forest and regional park. The house was cosy and warm and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast choice of cereals was good and the optional extra of having an evening meal proved excellent, with most of the delicious food, including dessert, grown on the property. Host Claire was friendly and was knowledgeable about local attractions.

Claire is a great host, we were greeted by their friendly little dogs. The couple has a real farm feel hospitality and are down to earth. Room is lovely and the bed was comfy with soft linen. Had some nostalgic chats about the good old days of show jumping. Really felt comfortable and at home. Actually missed staying here even if it was for one night... We will definitely return and stay few days next time...

The homecooked food was so good. The rooms were spacious, clean, bright. Had the warmest welcome, with three adorable and sweet dogs. It was a short and smooth drive up to the airport, the host was super helpful and kind.
