Everything, from a warm welcome, a beautifully restored house with original furniture & decorations, the lovely, modern bathroom, a fantastic breakfast! And Tony (sadly Maggie was out of town) was such a great host!

Tony and Maggie are excellent hosts and made us feel most welcome. The breakfast was excellent.

Local facilities, particularly the options for an evening meal, were limited.

A very cosy place with an amazing interieur. Tony and Maggie are very experienced hosts. Thank you for the kind hospitality. They prepared us a delicious warm breakfast including fruits and cereals.

Tony is absolutely amazing! The house is filled with wonderfully interesting antiques, the outside entertaining area is inviting, and everything is relaxing and comfortable. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast, with herbs and veggies straight from the garden. We would definitely stay again!

Everything was wonderful. Breakfast was particularly nice. Tony and Maggie were very nice hosts.

Pheasant Lodge is very charming, beautiful and comfortable. The hosts, Tony and Maggie, where brilliant. From arrival, to leaving, the care shown was exceptional.

A beautifully restored home dating back to the 1880s, but with all the mod coms. The hosts, Tony and Maggie, are truly interested in their guests, generous with their time, and staying with them feels like home. I’d highly recommend booking dinner with them and bringing a bottle of wine from the shop next door - it was one of the highlights of our travel through New Zealand as we shared the table with another B&B guest, Tony, Maggie, and 2 visiting friends of theirs. You’ll be well fed but don’t pass on Tony’s delicious breakfast the next morning! If you’re interested in antiques and vintage clothing, also ask them to show you the shop they run next door.

The rooms are on the small side, as to expected in a property of this age, but they are very well appointed and you have the run of the rest of the house and garden so you will not feel cramped.

First impressions count. As I arrived I was greeted by Maggie who was very friendly and showed me around, before Tony arrived and welcomed me with a much appreciated cold beverage! My hosts were engaging and warm, and I felt at ease and comfortable immediately. I had asked to dine with Maggie and Tony both evenings and I was very glad I did. They are both great cooks and the whole evening felt much more personal, and preferable to an evening in a restaurant. Tony made breakfast both days, which was a feast for the eyes as well as in the traditional sense!
