The Hill Town Cottage

Lovely little hotel with old world charm, and staff that take the best care of you. The view is lovely, location perfect, walking distance from the main market, and not too far from the main tourist attraction Gregory Lake. Raghu was so very helpful, noticing on the first day what foods we had more, or less of, and adjusting accordingly. Chamilla always checked if we needed anything. I would recommend this place.

The staff were super friendly and gave great advice for our stay in Nuwara Eliya. The breakfast was abundant with the choice of an English breakfast. The common area was comfortable and the gardens were well looked after. The location was easy walking distance to the town centre and very quiet.

It was probably due to the downpour before we arrived but the room smelled of damp. It would have been nice to have a little heating in the dining area.

It’s pretty old. Smells old, moldy bathroom. Bad had these old synthetic blankets that just got clammy. Was okay for one night but would not have stayed longer. Should be rated 2 stars due to the facilities.

Very welcoming staff (both Ragu and the receptionist lady), good location just a walking distance from the city centre. We received a good breakfast and any leftovers were packed so we could have it on the train to Ella. They will help you arrange a taxi or tuk tuk if needed.

We booked 2 rooms and had the best stay here. We felt so welcome, like staying with family. We also booked the Sri Lankan breakfast 1200 rupees, a feast with fish curry, dahl, roti, fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, (the best dahl I've ever had), and the English breakfast on the 2nd day).The lady manager and her manager Raghu catered to my friend's coconut allergy. Raghu in particular was very attentive, kind and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for a pleasant stay and always up for a chat. He is such a hard worker and so nice. Highly recommend Hill Town cottage. Only a short tuk tuk into town 400 rupees. There are 4 rooms, with 3 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Thank you for a lovely stay.
