Minthu Homestay

Het uitzicht en de hangmatten zijn heel fijn om je terug te kunnen trekken na een activiteit.

Het is het gewoon allemaal nét niét.

The location was stunning. Breakfast was excellent. Minthu & his staff were hospitable and lovely. Minthu's Homestay was one of my favorite places to stay during my Sri Lanka trip.

Nothing. It exceeded my expectations.

Breakfast was cooked fresh in front of us everyday and was very tasty.

Nothing really.

If you're going to Ella you have to stay here! This accommodation has the best view we have ever seen. You can see Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock from the bedroom and communal areas. For us, the view was better than those on the famous train ride and from the top of Little Adam's Peak! We opened the curtains of our room and watched the sun rise from bed, a real highlight. It is a steep climb to the property which was difficult with bags (get a tuktuk, it's harder for cars to navigate the hills) but very manageable, even for me who does not have good fitness. The steep walk is absolutely worth it for the view. Ella is hilly so you will have a steep walk wherever you go anyway. Again, if this is off-putting you can get tuktuk for good price instead. It's quick to get to the centre of town. Our favourite bars and restaurants were the ones closest to the property reached by walking along the train track towards Ella station. The host and his family/team work very hard. We felt very welcome and he gave us great tips for the area. He arranged a lovely driver to Darshani Falls for a very good price and let us know best times to visit attractions.

Amazing view over beautiful landscape, quiet and very nice place. Walking distance to the village center, ca 5 min along the railway. Very friendly and nice host, and very helpful. Hei made delicious homemade breakfast Sri Lankan style. Nice and clean room with a balcony.

The road there was very narrow and bumpy, and to difficult for the minibuss driver, but the host organized a tuctuc to bring all our luggage both ways from the main road. The bed was a bit hard for my preference, but good for my husband, so there is really nothing to complain . Would happily return

La vue était extraordinaire, que ça soit dans la chambre ou lors du petit déjeuner (extrêmement bon aussi!), très bien placé, à proximité de plusieurs randonnées différentes. L’hôte était adorable, très serviable et souriant, il nous a proposé de nous faire le petit-déjeuner la veille au soir lorsque nous lui avons dis que nous devions partir à 3h du matin le lendemain, et c’était là aussi très bon ! Je ne peux que recommander !

Das Zimmer war vollkommen in Ordnung, allerdings von der Ausstattung her nichts Besonderes und wies teilweise Gebrauchsspuren auf. Es gibt einen Kühlschrank im Zimmer. Der Balkon war definitiv das Highlight: die Hängematte und der schöne Blick auf die Berge sowie die Zugstrecke waren toll! Eine Klimaanlage gab es leider nicht, sondern lediglich einen Ventilator. Gerade tagsüber wäre eine Klimaanlage gut gewesen. Nachts wurde es dann zum Glück angenehm kühl. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, frisch zubereitet und wurde jeden Morgen mit kleinen Variationen vom Eigentümer serviert.

Minthu and his wife were great hosts! Breakfast was delicious and Minthu was gracious when answering my questions. I loved the location: close to town yet far enough to be away from the busyness of Ella. I especially loved sitting on the balcony and watching locals and tourists come and go!
