Matakohe House

Great location, quiet side road, next to Kauri Museum (very impressive), colonial style vibe, very friendly hosts, basic cooked breakfast included.

Was grateful to have dinner available in the evening as the B&B is fairly isolated. The Kauri Museum nearby is well worth a visit with tickets valid for two days (there’s a lot to see).

The couple who own the place are very nice. I highly recommend this b&b if you are in neighborhood. The room was big and comfortable. We had dinner on site and the steak was amazing, be prepared to pay an extra $15 for dessert. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The Kauri museum is conveniently located next door and definitely worth a visit. Also a drive to see the biggest fig tree is a must.

There isn’t much to do around but the place is very relaxing. A jacuzzi would be a nice addition for guests to enjoy.

Although a cooked breakfast was available, we opted for the lovely homemade muesli and toast, which was served with a huge cafetiere of coffee. This is a very homely feel accommodation, and our room was spacious with a large comfy bed.

Location was perfect for us and the place was quiet and comfortable, Breakfast and supper were delicious.

Friendly and accommodating owners, cleanliness, view, drinks to buy (fridge bar even diet soft drinks), offered a good menu for our evening meals too, good choice of meal location professional with a personal touch

Having to leave would have preferred a choice of eggs for breakfast.

Super friendly hosts. Great dinner.

We liked everything about our stay.

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and we were fortunate to meet some lovely people from Denmark and had a fabulous evening, parting as friends. The location is convenient, close to the Kauri Museum which is a must to visit and learn for tourist and kiwi's alike.

There were no negatives at all, highly recommended.
