Premier National Harbor House

The outside of the house is beautiful and it's in a pretty good location overall, but that's about it. The listing is completely misleading. You don't actually get to stay in the main part of the house. You're in the mother in law suite in the basement. You can hear EVERYTHING. Conversations, people walking, the washer and dryer upstairs, everything. There's old oatmeal and cups of old, gross cereal for the breakfast, there's eggs to cook yourself in the fridge. That's not what you would typically expect from a "bed and breakfast". I had to wash my own dishes too. There were only to-go coffee cups that we could use for convenience, but come on people. We're in 2024. This is not something you would expect to see in Washington DC where you're supposed to be putting your best foot forward to represent America. The one good thing I can say is there was a lot of different coffee pods to choose from, but I don't drink coffee. I drink tea, and the tea they had was AWFUL. It was old, stale, and only herbal options. No black or green tea. This was totally and completely false advertising and they need to update their listing or have it removed.

The breakfast, the pictures they provide of the house are totally misleading. The room I was given was clean and big, but it was in the basement. I specifically chose this house because I wanted to experience a part of history. This is marketed as a historical house but nothing about this house was accessible outside of the dark, dingy basement that smelled and was furnished like an old lady.

Price

Did not get check in instructions until an hour and a half past check in. I showed up in a taxi and couldn’t get in. Tried calling and texting host with no response. Had to call booking.com then finally got my instructions. As a solo traveler, I was completely freaked out to be in DC and didn’t know if I had a place to stay.

nothing, I was there at 3:45 pm today abd i didn't get the info from them until after 4pm how ro get in.i has to get another hotel to stay in.i want my money back.

i got the info to late how to get in the place when i got a room somewhere else.

Love the location & private entrance

Nothing much, I've stayed here before so I knew what to expect. Please understand its not a hotel & the bathroom is a shared space.

Reasonably clean, spacious and comfortable, albeit in need of minor repairs and redecoration.

Entrance to property difficult with luggage due to overgrown plants blocking the path. Didn't see or speak to any staff member, although speedy, if disappointing, response to messages. Breakfast poor and inadequate. Not even a slice of bread to go with the three eggs between at least five guests. Location listed as six miles from Washington's Mount Vernon. Was, in fact, fifteen miles. I would never have booked at that distance. Only learned it was not a hotel or motel after payment was taken. Subsequently told it was an Air B&B. Would have cancelled but for terms and conditions by which full payment would be forfeited.

Sharable living space

It was very noisy, and the other guest smoking pot we have an asthmatic with us not great for her heath, and a deeper clean would be nice.

Breakfast cereal options were nice but I don't really eat breakfast. Coffee is my breakfast. Overall it was a good experience for the price. The room was a little too hot even with the fan running. And the only real cleanliness issue was around the entryway to the kitchen. Dead bugs and spiderwebs. But the room was very clean and so was the bedding!!! Also it felt like a very safe area. My alternative was the red roof in and those reviews said it was drug addict central. Also street parking was very easy! Loved the free out front parking.
