Dee, the host, was terrific with communication ensuring that we took the best route to the house and ensuring that she was ready on our arrival. She cooked us a delicious steak and we enjoyed an evening of great conversation.

A door on the bathroom would have been better, not from a visibility perspective but a sound one.

A real gem. Dee Dee was a generous host. She cooked us the best dinner, complete with homemade bread and delicious dessert which was just what we needed to warm us up on a very cold day. We had a hearty breakfast the next morning. The room was lovely, filled with beautiful art, the bed was very comfy and oh my goodness the pillows! We will be back for sure.

Rustic accommodation in the quiet part of town. Clean room and a nice firm mattress. Do book dinner and breakfast. The host likes cooking and it shows.

Our stay at The Black Cottage in Smithfield was peaceful & perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Dee Dee, the warm and gracious host who made every effort to make us feel at home. Adding to the charm was Buddy, the cutest black Labrador, whose gentle and friendly nature added a special touch to our stay. The rooms were beautifully decorated, with thoughtful details that made the space feel cozy and inviting. The fridge was stocked with milk and cold water, which was lovely. Dee Dee cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast, both served on the stoop overlooking her stunning garden and a picturesque pond alive with a splosh of frogs and their charming croaking. The beautifully set table was a testament to Dee Dee’s impeccable attention to detail and care for her guests. Every moment felt special and relaxing. Thank you, Dee Dee and Buddy, for an unforgettable stay! The Black Cottage is a true gem, and we highly recommended it.
