Black Cottage

Beautiful garden, lovely room, delicious breakfast.

Black Cottage was one of my favorite road trip stopovers of all time. Dee Dee is a wonderful host, a great cook, and a creator of the most beautiful spaces. From the garden to the art to the food, everything at Black Cottage is a feast for the senses. I want to come back for two or three nights to fully enjoy all Black Cottage has to offer.

The accommodation is ideal for an overnight stop. A very welcoming host who loves pets. It is a quiet location and away from the national road. It was a cold night and the under-carpet heating and electric blanket ensured we were most comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a good shower. DeeDee goes out of her way to serve a tasty dinner and a full breakfast to round off a great stay.

Finding the place was a bit confusing for Google Maps. Some signage might help. The room had no TV or wifi - good cellular connection though. We didn't need it we wanted a quiet night. There is no doorway between the bathroom and the main bedroom.

Our room had underfloor heating and electric blankets so we were snug and warm on a chilly night. Dee Dee was such a delightful host and cook and allowed us to use her interesting lounge. What a gem

A very well maintained and well decorated cottage in the free state. We enjoyed our stay, the garden is really charming, the host extremely welcoming and interesting, you feel at home away from home.

Dee Dee is a friendly, supurb hostess. The dinner, breakfast and conversation about topics of interest just added to our trip. Our accomodation was clean, neat & comfortable. Meeting Buddy the Labrador estate manager, was a delight.
