Paul and Christine were amazing hosts, also the other staff were more then amazing, such friendly people, it felt like a home far away from home. Also the hotel itself is beautiful, rooms are nice and comfortable, location is perfect and the people of Lamu are so friendly. We will be back someday for sure.

The eco was a bit too eco for us, but that is mostly personal.

Das Frühstück ist hervorragend - vor allem hauseigene Bio-Produkte. Auch das angebotene Swahili-Dinner ist zu empfehlen. Gut gefallen haben mir auch die wasserlosen Bio-Toiletten, die praktisch geruchsfrei sind. Das Personal ist immer hilfsbereit und erfüllt gerne auch mal einen Sonderwunsch.

It was a beautiful place and amazing experience to stay in a traditional Swahili house.

The WiFi wasn’t consistent but the staff helped with access to different networks available. Just a heads up there’s no air conditioning and hot water.

La casa es preciosa. Es una antigua casa suawhili. Se respira tradición por todos los costados. El desayuno es muy amplio y bueno, además el personal es muy amable.

La propia estructura de la habitación tiene unas aperturas por las que entran mosquitos. A pesar de haber ventilador (no da mucho aire) y mosquitera( estaba rota en algunos puntos) todas las noches entraban mosquitos a la habitación.

The absolute loveliest staff that made my trip unforgettable and exceptional experience. Breakfast is delicious and freshly prepared. The architecture alone is worth the stay - a truly beautiful historic house. I’ve had the pleasure of some amazing travel experiences and I will forever remember my stay at Subira House. I can’t wait to return again!

Absolutely wonderful staff, great food, and beautiful house and decor. Great vibe, and nice people coming in during the day for tea, lounging, or eating a bite. I loved staying in Lamu Town for a few days (I have stayed in Shela too) — it's lively, and I think it's more special to be among locals, especially coming to Lamu for the first time.

I have nothing to complain of. I was positively impressed with Subira House in every way.

All of the staff are amazingly cheerful, engaging and always helpful. Meals were lovingly prepared and tasty.

Although nicely central in the Old part of Town, the House is adjacent to many noisy megaphones which we found disruptive for a long stay. The bed linen could do with upgrading. We found the mattresses in both rooms that we occupied incredibly uncomfortable.
